Michelle Segre

January 12th, 2008

I finally walked my ass over the the New Museum today and my verdict was less than thrilling. Perhaps its because the current exhibition is all sculpture, using found and discarded items, something that has never really moved me much. However, the book selection in their tiny store is amazing. Despite the fact that I couldn’t afford the ridiculously priced books I looked at, I kept some names in my mind, one being Michelle Segre. She’s known largely for her big sculptures, but those don’t impress me nearly as much as her intricate drawings.

See Swamp Eyes larger here and more drawings + sculpture here.

ps. I’m going to be rather busy next week at work, so I thought I might get a few posts in this weekend just in case I’m a bit absent next week.

I just Googled her because her work is so interesting And this post came up. I really love her stuff, and the best part of this all is how I came upon her work: She was my beginning drawing instructor last semester :D
