you do what you can

A few weekends ago I got a can of paint out to do minor touch-ups around the house–such as painting the light switches and electrical outlets–which led to me painting all of the ugly 80's oak pieces in our bathroom. It's definitely a temporary solution, but I'm quite happy with what a can of paint and new door knobs can do. The real remodel will come much later, i'm afraid.

On a related note, this Decorno post made me feel much better about the state of my house. I love how she personifies her house, it's the absolute best! I have yet to determine the gender of my house.

did you sand that down first? my girlfriend and I have been looking at our really crappy 80s oak table and realized it wouldn't look half bad if it was a different color.

thanks, kate! somedays i miss renting because we couldn't spend all our time on home improvement.

hey micah,
i didn't sand it down at all, but the old finish was quite worn. it's been a few weeks and it's holding up well. i used the same paint i used for my walls which was an egg shell finish. i thought high-gloss white would look cool, but i got lazy and used what i had. hope that helps! would love to see what you end up with too!
