Ilse Jacobsen Rubber Boots

January 8th, 2009

Yesterday it rained. Then it rained some more. Then some more. Then some more.
I wore my rain boots and kept looking down and thinking about how clunky and ugly they were and how funny everyone looked in rainboots with patterns they would never wear on any other article of clothing.

I wish I’d had these rubber boots, which are no doubt the coolest rain boots, and would probably kick ass in the snow.

Swoon! So many beautiful things here. If I’m reading correctly, Erik Natzke’s work is digital – they had me fooled!

The States of Shapes

January 7th, 2009

One of my countless New Years Resolutions is to make more handmade/drawn things, and I think it’s the only one that will actually stick. I thought I’d share some album artwork I recently made for a dear old friend of mine who is in a great little Seattle band, The States of Shapes.

This is used for the album

 The States of Shapes
This is for their facebook/website, as they couldn’t decide between the two so they wanted to use both.

Check them out on facebook and itunes. Merrill was my singing partner in crime in high school and I’m so so happy that she’s back into making music again, such a lovely voice should not be wasted!

Lantern Garland, originally uploaded by En Why See.

Dear Santa,

I know that Christmas is over, but I was thinking that maybe we could pretend it isn’t and you could maybe bring me a Craft ROBO? I have no idea what I’ll do with it, but it will be something super cool like this garland (or these awesome projects) and involve lots of book making.

Love always,
Kate

Into The Woods

I noticed a common theme among my flickr favorites lately: forest. Either it’s my northwestern heart longing for the woods I grew up in, or it’s just a damn lovely subject to photograph. Maybe both.

Desks

January 5th, 2009

Billy starts grad school in a few weeks, which means he gets his own art studio, which means goodbye too his big work desk in our living room. So we’re looking for a little desk in its place. These aren’t really what we’re looking for but I love these new desks from West Elm and CB2.

 Desks
swoop desk, reminiscent of the George Nelson desk for a fraction of the cost. Also kind of sort of reminiscent of the Herman Miller desk we bloggers drooled over many months ago.

 Desks
bond desk (also available in a larger size). I wish they had an even smaller version of this guy, I’d snatch it up in a heartbeat! Love the shape.

Vacation is over, and it was definitely a great one. I made sure to be completely lazy for at least a total of 24 hours (um, and then some..) but also made sure to be productive. Not only am I excited for 2009, I’m ready. Usually I’m bitching and moaning about going back to work right now, but I’m excited to dive back in because I’ve realized in the last few months that I really love my job and I want to keep it*.

I’ve never felt as creative as I have in the last few weeks and I can’t wait to get back to work and to give time to some side projects for myself. I feel good about this year and feel good about the shape of things to come.

Thank you all for being such amazing readers, bloggers, and friends, this blog has given me more confidence and love than I’ve ever received before.

My new years resolution is to just be more optimistic, productive, and to meet more people outside of my computer! Of course I also want to bring you much more quality blogging. Less shopping, more creative. Oh hell, who am I kidding…:)
