necklush

Lisa sent me this amazing Etsy shop that sells this thing called a “necklush”, which is the coolest scarf ever. I want one! They come in lots of awesome colors, but are also really nice in my favorite color, grey.

Wow, how amazing is this installation? Irit Batsry, Beach at Nightfall. Video and mixed media installation. More photos here.

I wish I could see it in person.
via daily dose (flavorpill’s new daily email, which is quite fantastic)
Kristen sent me two beatiful prints out of the blue as part of her semiannual mailing list, much to my delight. I hung this one up on my photo string. I love the intimacy of her photos, I’ve always tried so hard to take photos of my family like this and it never quite works out because they’re always posing. Hers are just amazing.
thank you Kristen!
Billy emailed this video to me today of a kid filmed after getting his tooth removed at the dentist and I nearly died laughing. Kids are the best. I know how you feel kid, sometimes you just can’t come down off a bad high…I mean, um. No.

I’ve been coveting these two amazing lockets by nea and chain chain chained, but just don’t have the extra dough right now. I love a locket on a long chain.

Recently I’ve become obsessed with this Japanese cat on youtube, Maru, thanks to Micah’s constant facebook posting of his videos. I want this cat. I need this cat, as he is the most amazing cat I have ever witnessed (Wendy is going to claw me in my sleep for that). There are so many, many videos of this funny guy here (he became famous for this one), but the video above is a good introduction to him. He also appears to have a blog.

I don’t know why on earth I’ve never stepped foot inside before, but I went to Fishs Eddy for the first time today and had a tiny tableware orgasm. If you’ve never been, picture the kitchen section at Anthropologie, only an entire store of that and lots of things you can actually afford. Plus there’s a section of vintage tableware – tons of ’50s diner-style stuff (swoon). They’re having a crazy amazing sale right now. I scored these two milk glasses for $1.25 each! Recession special ahoy! (They’re on sale online as well, but are not quite as low). I also got a mini glove-mold hand that I thought would look good by my baby head sculpture.

Yesterday it reached nearly 50 degrees here in nyc and provided perfect weather for the Chinese New Year Parade. Did anyone else go? I love all the paper lanterns they hang in the trees at the park and all the little kids in the parade that show off their martial arts skills – they kill me with their adorableness! It’s the only parade I like going to in the city, and I love any exuse to eat my way through Chinatown.
Dear perfect weather, please do not go away.
