BSG final (so good), BBQ at Whiskey Sunday, a walk that led me to more cats and lots of lonely chairs, Watchmen (also SO good), the most amazing ice cream ever invented, an early anniversary present from the boy I love, Coraline in 3D (wasn’t into it), and lots of Brooklyn wandering with Lauren (who has apparently become my Sunday partner in crime lately). I don’t feel as excited about this weekend’s shots but the weekend itself was quite lovely.

Happy Spring Weekend!

, originally uploaded by seaabove.

Spring is officially here, and even though it’s cold and SNOWED here this morning, it’s supposed to warm up this weekend and I’m just going to pretend like this morning was all a dream.

Today also marks another important event: the series finale of Battlestar Galactica. My fellow BSG nerds have come out of the woodwork after my confession that I am obsessed so I know that many of you reading will be crying with me tonight when the clock strikes 11pm and the show is forever gone (I so see a movie happening, however). Perhaps there will be throwing and yelling?

I also want to thank you for the wonderful comments and emails in support of my new drawing series. Have I truly expressed how grateful I am for your support with this blog and my artistic dabbling? This is honestly one of the only things I’ve really stuck with in my life and I attribute that wholly to the fact that some people give a damn about what I have to say/post. I am one of the most painfully shy people on the planet outside of the internets, but here I can ramble without a care (except when the topic of pigeons comes up).

So have a wonderful, sun-filled weekend (fingers crossed) and I’ll see you Monday with some (hopefully) sun-filled photos.

Dr. Ellie Sattler, I salute you

March 20th, 2009

Last night we watched Jurassic Park for the first time in at least 10 years (whoa). While I was dissapointed that it wasn’t as awesome as I remember (so many one liners that made me cringe) the one thing that struck me was this: Laura Dern has some bangin’ ’90s style in this movie!

Exhibit A: Awesome sunglasses and messy hair

(you can copy the glasses with these babies)

Exhbit B & C: Sweet boot/sock combo (I want those boots) and high-waisted shorts. She looks cool even with dino poo up to her elbows.

Top notch safari chic.

I love this PLV boot at Urban. It has a nice Rachel Comey look to it.

the weekly what what

why not?, originally uploaded by shespeaksoceans.

I’m starting a new series (who doesn’t love a series?!) with a weekly drawing- the weekly what what. If you’re not familiar with my drawings I pretty much only draw text, but I’m not going to limit myself to that all the time. I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while, and I just bought a new scanner, so I thought why not? Nothing fancy, just relatively quick drawings.

So stay tuned. I’m not limited myself to a certain day of the week. I’m kicking it off with two this week. Some of these will be just straight-up scans, or hand drawn but digitally colored.

 the weekly what what

also, this post wouldn’t be complete without thanking miel et cannelle for the kind, kind words that helped me decide to start this now.

Oh, baby

 Oh, baby

Photographer Ryan Marshall is documenting his wife’s pregnancy with the most amazing photo series (it helps that she is one hot mama). Seriously, I tear up reading these. I’m filing this for my future self.

 Oh, baby

 Oh, baby

Maybe my friends are just getting to that age or maybe there’s something in the air, but is EVERYONE having babies and getting pregnant lately?! I have a must-be-at-least-30 rule for myself (just a rule for me, I don’t have anything against other people havin’ babies under that age) but I cannot HELP myself with getting baby fever from all this! But I can barely handle my cat waking me up in the morning, let alone 800 times a night by a baby.

Speaking of, Andrea has more photos of baby Audrey on her flickr, which will be updated more soon. Eeps she adorable!
