Tokyo

March 12th, 2009

We saw Tokyo last night – a really lovely movie. Michel Gondry’s part was glorious, as always. It got me daydreaming about Japan, my dream vacation.

 Justwatchthesky music blog

Justwatchthesky: a tumblr blog with a song per post, and a line from each song. Super simple awesome idea. I’m kicking myself for not bringing my damn headphones to work today.

 Jody Rogac

I could just flip through Jody Rogac’s portfolio for hours. Also, can I please have that girl’s shirt above? I’ll take a llama too, while I’m at it. They’re probably nicer than my evil cat.

 Blackbird, Fly

I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about the new twin-lens reflex toy camera Blackbird, Fly. Does anyone have one? It looks like a lot of fun. I wish it was a wee bit cheaper because I’d love to try it out. There’s a flickr group for it right here.

I’ve been in this slump lately of art not really inspiring me much. But Ian Carpenter sent me his work and broke that case of of the blahs. Don’t you love it too? He has two works at 20×200, and his blog is here.

 One in 8 Million

One in 8 Million, The New York Time’s new online series in sound and images, is amazing. Each story focuses on a different person in New York and lets them tell their story along with stunning black and white photographs. Even if you can’t turn your sound on to listen, the photos alone are captivating.

 One in 8 Million

I think New York holds some of the most fascinating people and stories, so this is such a great series to keep an eye on.

Market Publique

 Market Publique

My coworker’s friend just launched an online vintage marketplace, Market Publique, that I can tell will be verrrry dangerously wonderful for me (and you)! I have to last one more week of no shopping* til payday, but after that, I will be diving on in (just a little..).

*For the past few weeks I have not purchased anything except food (no eating out, either) and one pair of $4 red tights. That camera purchase kind of put a damper on things. But damn, was it worth it.

 wooden platforms

There’s been a collective internet swoon lately over wooden platform sandals for spring, and I couldn’t agree more. However, really chunky tall sandals make my gigantic feet look terrible in comparison to my short and small frame. That’s why I’m loving these APC sandals the most out of what I’ve seen – not too high or chunky, and they look rather comfy, no? My wallet is shaking it’s head at me right now.

A lot of art, a lot of walking (my feet are sooo sore), a lot of reading, a lot of amazing weather. Oh, and the time change has made me le tired this grey morning. Oh hello, coffee…

Also, I finally wore red tights.
