Rebecca Minkoff sale

April 30th, 2009

ideeli is having the most amazing sale on some Rebecca Minkoff bags. They’re over 50% off, but that still doesn’t mean they fit in my budget right now, which makes me whimper a little. I’m doing some interesting math in my head trying to figure out how I can buy one. It involves not eating for two weeks and/or having my electricity turned off. Humans survived for many, many years without electricity, I needs me that grey bag!

If anyone wants an invite to ideeli, click here (LINK FIXED NOW! sorry!). Once in a while there are some seriously awesome deals offered. And sometimes you can’t afford them still and you whine. And if you buy something I get $25 and then I will still not be able to afford that bag, but can eat for roughly two days of that two week fast if I do.

Reggie Watts

April 30th, 2009

Reggie Watts: Out Of Control from Jake Lodwick on Vimeo.

I’ve become totally obsessed with Reggie Watts in the last few days since seeing a clip of him performing on Jimmy Fallon. That clip is not available to embed, but YOU MUST go watch it here. Once it loads and you watch the annoying ad, you can click to the very last chapter of the episode where you see Reggie’s thumbnail. He has this amazingly weird, dry wit stand-up that leads into the most incredible beat-boxing ever (but not really beat boxing, that’s just the best way to describe it.) The video above is a great example of his music.

I also find it pure crazyness that he is from Great Falls, Montana – a small town much of my family is from that I’ve spent many thrilling vacations in. My great grandpa was once the mayor!

So excited for this movie. I love Sam Rockwell.

The Weekly What What: All Around Your Head

April 29th, 2009

The background was originally for a project at work, but it turned out to weird for my boss, so I took it home and worked on it to be my own thing. The text is from lyrics to a song my friend Ian wrote for our old band. I think it’s quite a lovely line, don’t you?

I’m clumped all my posts together today on my lunch break. That’s so good of me! (*pats back)

Miniature Cabinets of Curiosities

April 29th, 2009

Minature Rino’s Miniature Cabinets of Curiosities remind me of little collections of odd things I had as a kid, and I love them in a similar way that I love the Organized Collection photos.

spotted on Etsy’s Storque blog.

The walls are closing in on me

April 29th, 2009

I almost bought these wire baskets last night, until I realized that I have plenty of things to fill them with, but absolutely no place for them to even be. None. No table, no space under a table, no blank floor or wall. My apartment became officially annoyingly small a few months ago, and we are so excited for the lease to be up this Fall. I love love love it, but I hate hate hate my lack of space. Thanks, Manhattan. Queens, here I come!

I bought a sweet vintage American Tourister bag for my upcoming vacation (I refuse to check baggage) from the excellent Etsy shop, HausProud, and when I brought it home last night, I couldn’t find a single place to put it! (it’s gigantic) So I set it on a chair, and Wendy gave it some use until our trip:

Jenny O

April 28th, 2009

Hey, remember how great this video is of Jenny O singing in a hallway? I shared it one hundred years ago here, but I thought my new readers should be introduced to it. I listen to it at least once a month because I think it’s the most beautiful thing ever. Hallways and bathrooms have the best acoustics ever. This makes me very excited to go home and make music with my brother soon.

Make it bold

April 28th, 2009

This scarf, new at Holme (who we’re all drooling over lately), would be a great addition to a plain outfit. I’m a fan of dressing up plain outfits with scarves and bold necklaces. I’d much rather do that than wear an article of clothing that’s bold as is. I only own one shirt with a bright pattern, and I almost always feel ridiculous in it.

For the little lady

April 28th, 2009

I am really, really exicted to meet Andrea’s little angel, Ms. Audrey Imogene Wallace, in two weeks. When one of her new photos pops up on my flickr contacts page, I sing a little song that involves her name that Billy is most definitely sick of hearing. I find myself wandering into baby stores lately, trying to find a little treasure for her. How cute is this wooden picture book by German company Selecta? Spotted at the super cute store in my neighborhood, Sons & Daughters.
