the weekly what what: Just Like That

I printed this lettering on some kraft paper and set it aside, not being totally into it, but Billy found it on my desk and gushed over it, so I decided it was weekly what what worthy. From these drawings that I’m not 100% sure on what to do with yet!
New Music

Two albums on repeat today, after I decided I needed to give Dark Was The Night a rest before the people around me made me by use of force. The latest from Iron & Wine, Around The Well, a collection of rare and never before heard songs. This is like Iron & Wine porn for fanatics like me. All my itunes download is missing is a fold-out poster of Sam Beam to put on my wall and stare at while I listen to to the album and cry. Just kidding.
Here he is live singing “Love Vigalantes”

Next up, Au Revoir Simone’s new album, Still Night, Still Light, which I know I already mentioned, but now it’s out and I’ve listed to it all and love love love it. Their sound has matured, but is still sweet and dancable. Their music still reminds me of summer and new york city.
Here they are live playing my favorite song off the album, “Shadows” that doesn’t have a video released yet. You can hear the song on their myspace page.
And this is not new at all, but I’d never seen this video before and my friend Carl showed it to me over the weekend. Some classic Talking Heads. Turn it up and proceed to dance. This song is the best. Ever.
Every Eskimo

Every Eskimo has a very fantastically curated selection of vintage home goods, plus some really sweet handmade felt creations made from vintage felt. That little fox wants to come home with me! I love the photos so much in this shop, too.

For Me, For You Etsy Shop Now Open!

The day is finally here! Yesterday I sat down at my desk and didn’t get up until my Etsy shop was done: For Me, For You by Kate Miss. I’m very excited to announce it’s opening, and a little nervous as I’ve never sold anything in my life, but so many of you make it look so easy, so I’m diving in.
Thank you to the people out there who have posted about my magical thinking print lately, which you can now buy! And of course, thanks to all the general encouragement on the weekly what what, which I know I totally skipped last week due to jetlag, but won’t tomorrow.
I hope to have the friendship necklaces in stock in the very near future!
Bits Of My Weekend

Dwell sample sale (awesome pillow pictured), chinatown wandering, williamsburg drinking, DUMBO flea and then wandering, Brooklyn Bridge walk, ice cream rip-off, backyard scrabble, and Monday was getting shit done mania. Picture taking felt kind of forced this weekend, I hope to get my zing back next weekend!
Have A Great Weekend!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! I’m off at 1 today and also off Monday for Memorial Day, but I may post a bit Monday if I don’t make any plans. Right now I’m excited to possibly go to Parked! tomorrow to eat yummy food, and to (fingers crossed, hard) open my Etsy shop Tuesday! So stay tuned friends.
Dark Was The Night
I finally got around to buying the Dark Was The Night album. I know, I’m slow. I listened to it probably 1800 times at Micah’s, and then came home and had to have it. It’s the best thing since sliced bread, I tell ya. It’s hard to choose favorites, but here are a couple stand-outs, from a very helpful person who put a lot of the songs on youtube.
Grizzly Bear “Deep Blue Sea”. Leans more towards Daniel Rossen’s Department of Eagles sound, which of course I’m down with.
The Dirty Projectors & David Byrne “Knotty Pine”. Man is this song fun.
Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) & Aaron Dessner “Big Red Machine”. Hauntingly beautiful.
Sufjan Stevens “Your Are The Blood”. I love the new sound. Holy crap. Billy loves the Buck 65 remix even more and constantly asks me to put it on. Also good.
