dad & me, originally uploaded by shespeaksoceans.

When I was home I decided to roll up my sleeves and dive into my dad’s attic to find some old photos. I came across my baby album, which was my favorite thing on earth as a kid. Did you ever go through that phase as a kid where you were obsessed with what you were like as a baby? I found some gems in there. Above is my dad and I when I was around 2.

This is my mom and I when I was just born. A. I showed this to two people who thought this was me, and B. Holy cow she is so young! She was younger than I am now…which blows my mind.

And this is my favorite, my grandpa and I listening to his record player. He also looks so dang young! We are no doubt listening to Willie Nelson, something he’d put on for me when I was little constantly.

Ok, back to work. Coming back to work is very busy, hence my half-ass blogging today.

Want, but don’t need…

What I need is another pair of practical, comfy sandals to walk to work in. But this is what I want to buy instead:

Baby Hank Vintage

 Baby Hank Vintage

During my vacation in Seattle I got some good baby time in with Andrea’s baby Audrey, and my baby cousin Nathan. When Andrea showed me Audrey’s drawer of clothes, we spent 10 minutes of non-understandable high pitched squeal talking while she held each piece of cuteness up.

Baby clothes just bring out that part of me that loses all control of my speech, and these vintage clothes at Baby Hank Vintage do the trick x10.

Air Plants at pigeon toe ceramics

Did you know that pigeon toe ceramics sells not only their lovely, lovely little porcelain vessels, but they sell some that come with air plants? This is very exciting as my local plant store sells air plants like these for $35! I’ve been looking for any easy way to buy them online. You can get not only an air plant, but it comes with an awesome pot to put it in, for only $6-$38.

Giveaway at My Love For You

Meighan has a super rad giveaway over at My Love For You Is A Stampede of Horses (best blog ever, of course). So run run run your little…mouse? over to win a copy of the new Yeah Yeah Yeah’s CD + a poster. Don’t you just love blog giveaways? Greatest invention on earth. I never win them, but I hear that people do. Recently Andrea won a contest at IKEA and got a huge gift certificate plus got to introduce the Gossip Girl season finale on her local TV station. So see, people win things all the time.

It was such a wonderful, wonderful vacation. The weather gods were on our side, and apartment swapping with Micah and Shirley and having a car to borrow made the trip SO much less stressful! Their apartment was awesome, and as was their cat Lola, who wears a bow tie and doesn’t hiss at you when you pet her too much. I was so happy to be able to see old friends, family, and make music with my brother again! Thanks for all the wonderful comments on the music post. I wish we lived closer so we could bring you more soon! I also got some lovely baby time in with Audrey, and remembered what a good latte tastes like. I loved Seattle more than I have in many, many years, and that felt a little bittersweet. I felt suffocated by people today at the grocery store, but I’m sure that in a day or two I’ll slip right back into the wonderful chaos:)

Part two coming later! I didn’t want to overload this post.

Cinder & Smoke

May 16th, 2009

Hello friends! I’m having an awesome vacation, Seattle is treating us so well. It’s such a gorgeous, warm sunny day! But it’s hard to stay away from the blog, so I thought I’d share some music my brother and I made last night. A little Iron & Wine for your liking. I look kind of funny when I sing sometimes, I realized, after watching this:) Hope you like it, and I’ll resume my blogging break!

So long, originally uploaded by shespeaksoceans.

My bags are packed (I’m sure I’m forgetting something) and we’re off to Seattle! I will be back to blogging sometime mid-next week with a “bits of my vacation” post in place of the usual weekend photos. Depending on how this trip treats me this time (meaning: the weather) it may be split into a few posts.

And because at least one of you will ask, my purse is Andrea Bruckner :)

See you next week!

Ashley G’s custom portraits are SO rad. This one kind of sort of looks like our little family (just missing some glasses and a beard), so I can just imagine what ours would be like if I requested one. I kind of need to when I have some extra dough! You can email her at ashley.goldberg at gmail.com if you’re interested in having one made, or check our her always awesome Etsy shop, of course.
