You crazy kids cleaned me out

June 30th, 2009

Wow you guys, I am floored. Thank you to everyone who bought a necklace today, there is only one left! Along with the extra requests I have no materials left for more necklaces. I’m hoping to get supplies back in soon to restock the shop late next week, and I will let you know when that happens for sure! If you have your heart set on one, let me know and I will email you when it’s remade. katemiss at gmail dot com

Again, thank you, I’m so incredibly grateful for your support! I have to enlist the help of my trusty assistant Billy to help me get these orders out the door tomorrow.

Introducing For Me, For You Jewelry

June 30th, 2009

I am very, very excited today to announce the addition of my jewelry to my etsy shop!

This collection of jewelry is inspired by the friendship bracelets of my childhood with a grown-up twist. I’ve been working so hard to get these done and hope you love them as much as I do.

I also have to thank my dear friend Anneliis for modeling some of the jewelry for me over the weekend. I wish I could have found a way to use her pretty face more!

Also, if any sell out that you want to purchase, take a look at my sold orders and let me know if you want that one, because I might have the materials to remake that one, or at least in the color with a similar chain (because some of the chains are vintage and I may not be able to get again!).

Bike Aid Poster

June 30th, 2009

I just wanted to share a poster I recently created for the lovely Andrea of miel et cannelle. I spent a whole Saturday drawing bikes for this one, which was quite a different experience than I’m used to with drawing!

Bits Of My Weekend

June 29th, 2009

This weekend I finally got the sun I was asking for. Friday Billy worked overnight so I went to Brooklyn and had a date night with Lauren, who is quite a good date and talked me into dessert and gave me my tv fix while we made jewelry. Saturday was a trip to Governor’s Island with Anneliis and we took lots of photos (that I can’t show you yet!) for my jewelry. Saw some friends in town from Poland and watched the sun set from an amazing 20th floor apartment in Brooklyn. Sunday I had lots of boring sitting at my computer work to do, but we managed to go to take a stroll to Soho to get Billy’s beard trimmed at his barbershop (best thing to watch ever) and fall asleep to Star Wars. Thank you, sunshine, for giving me two days of your splendor.

Have a (hopefully) sunny weekend!

I’m having a little déjà vu writing this, but this weekend I’m hoping and praying for just one day without rain. And that day better be tomorrow. I’m going to Governor’s Island to take pictures of my pretty friend Anneliis, and if it rains I DON’T GIVE A DAMN. I will just hold an umbrella over my camera and we’ll just get wet and I will spend a day outside for once.

A few random things I didn’t have time to blog about this week:

Though a total luxury, I’m so in love with this Chandelier (you were right, Mandi!)

White Hart Lane is a super cute online Aussie magazine. I like their bit on men with beards, swoon Bon Ivar! Can I add Robin Pecknold to that list? Mmmmmm. Speaking of, download a new Fleet Foxes song recorded live.

I want this jade colored nail polish!

Have a great weekend everyone!

"shorts" is a funny word

These shorts are so Laura Dern in Jurassic Park and I’m pretty sure I love that.

A bad day for icons

June 26th, 2009

When I was a tot my mom would put Michael Jackson on the record player, and no matter where I was in the house I’d drop what I was doing and dance. Apparently it was like a party trick for my parents. Watch Kate dance to Michael Jackson. I don’t dare dance in public these days, but if he comes on when I have itunes on random, I will indeed drop everything to dance. Ask Billy. So while it honestly felt like he had been gone for a long time already, I’m saddened by his departure from this world, and sad that Farrah had to go on the same day. I’m blown away by the massive instant reaction from everyone – people everywhere on the streets were talking about it on my walk home. Let’s all just drop what we’re doing and dance to my favorite Michael Jackson song on earth. Farrah would have, I bet.

You can’t embed the music video, so here’s the mp3 to crank up. But seriously, go watch the video. How sexy was he?

Broken

June 25th, 2009

Today, at the end of week 3, I broke the shopping ban and bought an iPhone. I agonized over needing a new phone for a month, and at the same time, my ipod battery started only lasting for two hours. I looked at every phone in existence. I can probably tell you more about cellphones that you will ever need to know now. But when it came down to it, my next billing cycle with T-Mobile was coming up, and I just WENT for it because this is the phone I’ve wanted all along. I thought of you, dear readers, and your support and nice comments about how you too were going to go on a ban, and I felt bad.

But, I will say that I have not purchased a single piece of clothing or accessories (which was the problem in the first place) and the phone was kind of a necessity because my current one requires me to hit the 7 key 3 times before it registers. But I still feel bad, so I’m extending the ban through July, and really my goal is to not buy any clothing all summer if I can stand it.

I’m going to an event for work now so this is my only (lame) post for today, tomorrow I’ll make up for it!
