 DIY awesome

There’s a super awesome tutorial on Refinery29 today with Caitlin Mociun (of the amazing Mociun clothing line) on how to turn a cheap dress into something amazing with potato printing. The results make me want to try this asap! I think a potato printing party would be flipping awesome, no? It would be less old lady as the name suggests.

David Fullarton, you are my hero.

I was actually 3 hours late for work this morning because I had a migraine, but I wish I had been drawing animals.

 Navajo Rugs Navajo Rugs

Ever since Lena posted about searching for navajo rugs on Ebay, I’ve had them on my mind. Louie Ewing’s Navajo Blankets Portfolio is making me love that look even more. I think I need one for my next apartment with good floorspace. I think they’d look good in a room with dark grey walls and lots of vintage furniture.

Live Now collaboration

I was pretty dang excited when Eric Smith contacted me to do a collaboration with him for his Live Now project. If you’re not familiar with it, Live Now is “a project consisting of a growing collection of artwork, quotes, thoughts, experiences and ideas, powerfully pursuing the notion of ‘living now’. Engaging participants to grow, live meaningful lives & be happy!” which all came about after Eric was diagnosed with cancer and his perspective on life was changed.

So Eric gave me this quote to work with, and I’m pretty excited about the results. I’m honored to be a part of a project that some amazing artists that I admire, like Mike Perry and Will Bryant, have also contributed to. I can’t wait to see what becomes of the project and who else contributes!

A ray of sunshine just came in through my window onto my desk. What the what? Sprinting to go bask in it before it’s gone again….

I warn you I am completely uninspired to blog today! Maybe that sun will help. Some adorable puppies might too, but who knows where I can wrangle some up right now at work.

The Avett Brothers Tiny Desk Concert

The Avett Brothers are on the latest band to play NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, and it does not disappoint. I would love to see these guys live, they’re amazing. Even better I would like them to play at my desk!

 Bedroom swoon

Design*Sponge’s sneak peek’s are my favorite thing ever, but today I’m especially in love with this house tour with Morgan Satterfield. I couldn’t be trusted with all that white, but I wish I could. I’m swooning over this bedroom. I love that brass lamp and the painting above the bed. My grandparents have this hilarious awesome portrait of them in their bedroom my aunt gave them as a gift that I hope to inherit someday. They would probably be so baffled as to why on earth I’d want it.
Morgan has an awesome vintage shop on Etsy, too, called Brick House Vintage.

 An Apple A Day

I love this Apple A Day letterpress poster from VikDesign. You put the little variety sticker from your apple on it each day. We get free apples at work and I think I actually do eat one every day, it would be funny to have this on my wall at work:)

Foodtastic weekend: currywurst, berry crepes, homemade tortilla chips & mango guacamole were highlights. My first extremely successful self-bang cutting experience (3rd photo), a wine-filled evening at Elise’s and playing with some masks she had (I know, they’re creepy), and a visit to The Met. The roof right now is amazing (Roxy Paine installation), and we got lucky with a few hours of blue sky. I didn’t even notice that I didn’t take very many photos this weekend until now! But, I have a good excuse as it just rained and rained and only let up for a few hours here and there, so I just holed up inside when it did.
