ModKat

ModKat is the nicest looking litterbox I’ve ever seen! Swoon, wish it wasn’t so pricey.

Rachel of Heart of Light posted a great tutorial on how to make your own ruffle headband. Not only is it awesome looking, but this is a fantastic shopping ban solution – making your own stuff! Lana commented on my shopping ban post that she’s started making her own clothes, and I am not that talented, so I’ll start with headbands.
I never watched Project Runway religiously, but the first time I heard Tim Gunn say “make it work”, I couldn’t help but tuck it away in my head for future use. I repeat it to myself constantly. I have it taped to my computer monitor at work. It’s just so simple and perfect, and something to live by when you’re working on a project.
The weekly what what is going to come late today when I get home, because I have this problem where Wednesday sneeks up on me and I forget to scan things and put them on my computer before I leave for work!
Today is all about meetings at work about things like productivity and such, which is funny because I’m too busy to get anything done because of them. OHHHH office culture, you are such a kidder sometimes!
Here are some scans of old film that I somehow never got around to editing through and uploading on flickr. I will distract you all with these until I can put up today’s drawing. Also I need time to expand my mind in finding things to post about that don’t involve shopping.
These make me want to go shoot some film this weekend.

Let’s look at some pretty pictures, shall we?

Yesterday I started my painful at-least-one-month-long SHOPPING BAN!
I will only allow myself to buy supplies for my shop, food, and drug store necessities. And entertainment (like movie tickets, etc) because experiences are better than products.
Lately my shopping has gotten out of hand! Oh my god! I signed up at mint.com to help my finances and it had this jaw dropping effect on me when it organized my purchases by shopping vs bills, etc. WHOA!
So I’m going to cut down on the shopping posts to help me (but not too much, a girl can dream, maybe more totally unobtainable things so it’s not even tempting?), and to help those of you who have left me love/hate notes like “I just bought everything at that store, I hate you!” I know, I hate me too!
So let’s just look at these pretty pictures. I’m going to focus less energy on buy buy buying and more energy on love love loving what I have and what’s around me. One of my coworkers went on a shopping ban for AN ENTIRE YEAR! Holy cow! If she can do a year, I can do a month or two. My savings account hasn’t seen a deposit in a while, I’m going to give the little guy the boost he needs.

It’s been ages since I covered a current obsession! I’ve been smitten with florals on black skirts and dresses lately. I found a skirt that I love at forever 21 for cheap (bottom right photo), but I’ve seen some that I love on other sides of the price and quality scale.

Two new booklets are for sale in the shop! They’re made with some rad hand drawn patterns that I’ve been looking to find a use for. I had to resist keeping these for myself to use.
Also, the lovely Kelly of Design Crush is having a For Me, For You giveaway!! Head on over and tell her what your super power is for a chance to win this print:
