The end of my jewelry class (end result in the second photo), some galleries and chinatown ice cream factory with Anneliis, jewelry making until 2:30 am, and then all I can remember is beach beach BEACH because the sun and my slight sunburn has fried my brain! Oh and that swimsuit? Amazing. The best swimsuit I’ve ever owned. I didn’t realize until last night that I didn’t take hardly any photos this weekend! Oh well. I knew these Monday posts would eventually get hard!

We’re moving to a different floor at work, so I’m signing off early today to pack pack pack.

I’m looking forward to a possible visit to the Renegade Craft Fair if I can find someone to drag along with me, a visit to Brighton Beach to test drive my new swimsuit, and HOPEFULLY a break from this crazy, crazy rain! I also am going to put a few new booklets in the shop this weekend, so I’ll post about those when I do.

I hope you all have a great weekend as well, I’ll see you Monday!

Away We Go is here!

At last! Away We Go opens in select cities today and that makes me do a happy dance around my living room. So excited about this movie.

chin up! now for sale, originally uploaded by shespeaksoceans.

I was looking through some weekly what what files and realized I needed to add this guy to the shop! It’s perfect timing as I know many of us need a little ecouragement with all this stupid, stupid rain in NY this week.

Printed on shimmery silver paper, which is near impossible to photograph.

Get it here.

success!, originally uploaded by shespeaksoceans.

Have you checked out Elly’s fantastic flickr group, Braid Wednesday by now? This morning I added my first attempt to braid the back of my hair, which was mostly a success! Braids are perfect for humid and rainy days for me, as my thick, wavy hair turns into a disaster.

The Weekly What What – Watercolor

June 3rd, 2009

I’ve been shifting gears this week on focusing on making jewelry, so I haven’t touched a pen in a while. Last night I forced myself to draw and paint for a couple hours while Billy sat behind me at the kitchen table and worked on his stuff, as his semester just ended at school and he works more at home now. There’s something about those moments where we’re both in the same room, not talking, listening to music, and working on our own projects that’s so great. I think it’s important to have someone, anyone, who you can feed creative energy off of. Even if you’re not working together to make something, it’s just creative atmosphere collaboration.

 Malia Mills

Speaking of swim suits, how cute are these one-pieces by Malia Mills? Reader Lara Jane pointed them out to me. You’re right, they’re not affordable, but they are perfect!

Their website is really wonky and these were the only images I could grab that were large, but there are some other super cute patterns and styles going on.

UPDATE: Malia Mills is offering For Me, For You readers a sweet discount! Just email jen at maliamillsswimwear@maliamills.com and mention you would like a special “for me, for you” $50 off coupon which you may use online, with jen on the phone or at one of their stores. Find locations here! Thanks, Carol!

Also, they have an outlet store in Manhattan that sounds pretty excellent.

The Great Swimsuit Hunt

 The Great Swimsuit Hunt

I hate that bathing suit shopping season begins before actual bathing suit season. They’re in stores (the few that actually stock them) for like, one month, and all the good ones are snatched up and never replenished. Buying them in nyc is make it more impossible too. Ordering one online has always made me nervous as I have a very long torso, no boobs, and a little more junk in the trunk than most people with boobs as small (non existent?) as mine. I know, TMI. But after a few recommendations and endless searching, I bit the bullet and bought this cutie on mod cloth. I wanted that cute one from j crew, but alas I was too late. It was a toss-up between this and this one on Urban Outfitter’s site, but this one ties at the top and seemed to have more coverage. I’m classy like that.

ps. Why are bathing suits so expensive when you only wear them like, 4 times? Why does hardly anyone sell retro-style suits when every girl I know wants one? Why is that an untapped cheap style? Old Navy, I’m looking at you to fix this.

This ramble was brought to you by allergy medicine.
