 sunglasses

These amazing vintage sunglasses at the pudding store vintage make me cry a little that I can’t wear non-prescription sunglasses. Please buy them so I can no longer visit the page every day and sigh.

and because I know someone might mention it, I do not have the money right now to put custom lenses in them! :)

This weekend was filled with many random storms that dumped rain like nobody’s business, lots of wine, lots of food making, brunch at Caroline & Lisa’s with lovely ladies, beer on Elise’s roof, stamp stamp stamping (and realizing my shirt matched the cards I was stamping), and necklace making. I can’t believe that A. It’s Monday already and B. it’s almost August! This summer is flying by.

a wee little break

L010, originally uploaded by chung lun Wu.

I am taking a little blogging break today and probably tomorrow. I just have too many things going on right now that need to take precedent. You might be happy to know that one of those things is making necklaces. When I told Billy I was taking a little break from them for a while, he said, “you can’t stop while you’re hot!!!!” and insisted I was a little crazy. Then I spent two days going back to my lazy self and realized I don’t like being lazy, and that he was right. So I ordered twice as many supplies, and got back to work. I guess all I needed was a two day break:)

See you Monday, friends.

afternoon laugh

July 22nd, 2009

My love for Will Arnett spans far and wide, and I just cried a little from laughing at him reading a paragraph from one of my favorite childhood books, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret on Jimmy Fallon the other night.

10 more movies (we) love for the visuals

July 21st, 2009

After reading all 71 comments with suggestions (phew!), I decided on 10 more movies that I love for the visuals that were either forgotten in the first post, or just came second best. But I will mention that if I were to redo the first list, The Fall would have been at the top as it gets my vote for best visuals ever in a movie. So, without further ado, here are 10 more movies I (and some of you) love for the visuals.

The Fall:
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
It does not hurt that Lee Pace is smokin’ hot in this movie.

Amelie:
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
This was the most suggested movie that I didn’t include, and I didn’t include it because I feel that A Very Long Engagement is more visual stunning, while this one I love the story more (I didn’t want to include two movies by the same director.) BUT! It is visually moving, so it should be included.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
When I saw this movie in the theater, I was gripping my seat half the time because I thought it was so stunning. I felt like I was the only person I knew who loved it, so I was glad to hear some of you did as well.

Lost in Translation:
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
The only movie I love Scarlett Johansson in.

Edward Scissorhands:
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind:
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
I mentioned it was hard to choose between The Science of Sleep and this one, but you’re right, this is just too amazing to leave off.

Romeo & Juliet: (baz luhrmann version)
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
No laughing. This movie changed the way I looked at movies when I was a teenager, and made me realize that I needed to do everything in my power to marry Leonardo DiCaprio. It’s such an awesome version of the story, I wish I could have found better screen grabs.

The Talented Mr Ripley:

10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
This movie is looooong and the story isn’t perfect, but I just want to crawl inside and live in it. Minus the murder and such.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly:
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals
10 more movies (we) love for the visuals

Thank you everyone for your comments on the first post, I’m excited to watch some of the movies you suggested that I haven’t seen!

UPDATE: ha! I can’t believe I was the first to notice there’s only 9 here. Forgot this one:

All New For Me, For You Necklaces In Stock!

July 20th, 2009

3737868724 98934af2ac o All New For Me, For You Necklaces In Stock!

Ladies and gents, the shop is now updated! 20 new necklaces for your wearing enjoyment.

Thank you to everyone for your support and love, and especially to Billy for putting up with me for the past month. I used every single one of my supplies down to the last inch of chain, so I cannot accept any special requests or orders after these are gone.

UPDATE: Whoa. You guys are crazy, everything sold out in 15 minutes. I have an inbox full of angry people who put necklaces in their cart and had them snatched away when they didn’t act fast enough! Sorry, guys, out of my hands! I really, really do need a little break from the necklaces, but I’m going to throw out the guess that I’ll be updating the shop again in late August. I have a full time job, freelance gigs on the side, and it’s just not possible for me to keep the shop stocked right now. Plus, don’t you like them being a little more special like that? :) Thanks again, friends. I’m hoping to ship everything out tomorrow if I somehow take on superwoman powers and hire Billy to help me tonight.

Saw (500) Days of Summmer (loved it, but it wasn’t amazing by any means), got an awesome vintage lamp for my “office” (8th photo down), spent 3/4 of my weekend hunched over my desk in said “office” finishing the necklaces and then photographing them all and then editing them all (oh god I’m so ready for you to TAKE THESE AWAY FROM ME!), Billy pried me away from my desk twice – once to go to Bushwick for pizza with friends, and then Sunday for an afternoon at the beach. I’m a little sunburnt and my stomach is mad at me for eating Pringles for lunch, but it was a good time. I’m a little low on sleep and a bit behind on other freelance projects and being a good girlfriend, but I’m excited for the shop update this afternoon and proud of myself for somehow churning these babies out. I’m also looking forward to a real weekend next weekend. You know, the kind with sleeping til 11.
