 Vintage Etsy Roundup

Rikkianne Van Kirk of Chakra Pennywhistle is doing an awesome series over at Mint on vintage clothing on Etsy. She dug up some sellers I’d never seen before, which makes me dangerously excited. Check out the roundup from today, and yesterday. I’m crazy about this bag above from Mid West Vintage.

I had a wonderful, sun-filled weekend, worked a lot, but rested a lot as well. Drank too much beer and ate too much food. Watched Frost/Nixon (meh) and Atonement (oh SWOON James McAvoy, swoon.) Bid farewell to a friend who went back to Poland, made a million necklaces, and enjoyed spending time with Billy after he worked overnight almost all of last week. I pretty much ignored my camera, so there are just little low-effort snippets, but I’m totally fine with ignoring my camera after so many photo posts last week!

Also, there’s lots of pie involved this weekend
and stock up for market week!. I’m going to try my best.

Brooke Budner for The Greenhorns

I love these posters that illustrator Brooke Budner designed for The Greenhorns, a documentary film about young farmers generating an agricultural revival. They’re titled, top to bottom “fruits of our labor”, “spend some time in the kitchen”, and “use your tools wisely”.

 ROMKA magazine

I’m in love with ROMKA magazine. Issue 3 is out, it’s free, it’s full of wonderful photography. Simply put, “the idea behind it is to create a showcase for pictures that are not necessarily a representative excerpt of your work, but your most favorite pictures.”

the weekly what what – sweet solitude

July 9th, 2009

I let last week’s weekly what what slide in hopes that the Bike Aid poster would pretty much count even though I made it weeks before, but this week I couldn’t do that again. I drew this in Stephentown while watching a deer in a field alone, thinking about how solitude and silence are like gold in New York City. Last night as I drifted asleep to the sound of my air conditioner shaking my whole room above my head, and drunk people shrieking at a nearby bar, I would have given up Ben & Jerry’s for a week to have that moment of solitude again.

 sublet clothing

I’m so in love with sublet’s eco clothing line I had to restrain myself from posting photos of everything from their Spring & Fall line. Their mission statement explains it better than I can (allergies are preventing me from functioning like a normal person this morning):

built on principles of social and environmental responsibility, new york-based sublet clothing’s mission is to design and manufacture sustainable garments for the creative community that inspires their collections. they design simple, refined silhouettes balanced by thoughtful details.

Bonus is that it’s run by two lovely, nice ladies who sent me photos and more info in the blink of an eye. Moments like that make me love blogging even more.
