Sunsets, shoes, and cheap shit cleansing

I had to cut today’s blogging short for a lovely visit to the dentist to get a cavity filled, so the afternoon has been spent being a worthless sack of numbness, drool, and overall complainer (I don’t handle pain well). So I thought I’d just share two photos to perhaps make up for that here.
Above, last night’s amazing sunset. I leaned out of my window to take this photo, only to realize the synagogue (Orthodox, I should mention) behind us was having a gathering in their back yard. And me? Well, I was in my underwear. I didn’t think about it as it’s HOT AS BALLS OUTSIDE and the moment I get home I must try to wear the least amount of clothing as possible. I’m going to hell now.

And then here, of course, we have my new Rachel Comey shoes, which are like pure heaven to walk in. I think that they will transition into fall nicely too because of the peep-toe, and I tested them out with a pair of tights (see here) and am excited to rock them with those too. I’m considering saving up for a pair of her boots, but that would be a serious decision. I think I’m going to follow Anabela’s lead and try to buy less cheap shit. Try. I’m very bad at not doing that and my closet rotates cheap shit like nobody’s business. I’m trying to buy less clothing in general, but maybe more quality purchases are in order, things I have to really save for and think long and hard about.
And that concludes my rant. The end. Back to my jewelry sweatshop.
Love Letter

Love Letter is a public art project by Steve Powers and The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. 40 local and international artists will paint the walls facing the Market elevated train in Philly in August with love letters. There’s also a sign school for youth in the area (so awesome), a documentary, and books in the works.
“If you were here I’d be home” is the most amazing line.
thanks, Billy!

Eruca

I don’t quite know what’s going on over at this Japanese fashion site, Eruca (think it’s a collection of shops in Tokyo that allows you to save favorites with an account) but what I do know is that I want everything, and I am yet again shown how Japanese fashion caters to my every love.
Awesome banner

I would like to hang this banner above my desk. Or just have some people follow me around, holding it above my head.
Swedish Hasbeens Fall Boots

While I would never in this universe spend $400 on a pair of boots, it’s totally ok for me to just stare and drool over these Swedish Hasbeens boots. (here and here plus other color and style peeks here). I’m so excited for boot season to come back!

also, Swedish Hasbeens is having a 30% off sale the month of august on their sandals!
Script Love
While I prefer hand-drawn script, sometimes it just isn’t feasible to use for certain projects. Some script fonts I’m in love with lately.

Handsome Thin (which I own and rarely get the chance to use!)
Heads Up: Shop Update Next Monday + a schedule
I just wanted to make an announcement about the For Me, For You necklaces! I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants with this business so far, which is a rather terrible way of doing things. I finally sat down and made a little plan, and figured out down to the last cent what all my expenses were and what everything was costing me and how much free time my life needs to remain sane and healthy. So:
1. The next shop update will be Monday, August 24th at 8pm EST
2. From now on, shop updates will be roughly every five weeks (will change a bit around the holiday season) and I’ll alternate what time of the day I post them each release.
3. Prices will be as follows: Woven Necklaces will be $50, Brass drops $35. Everything will now be shipped for free!
4. A day or so before shop updates I’ll be posting photos with what will be sold so you can decide what you want to aim for, and a link to this post will be sent to everyone on the mailing list (no more emails at the moment necklaces are posted, just a heads up.) Necklaces are usually purchased before I’m even done posting them all on Etsy, and I’ve been told by some buyers they noticed later a different necklace they would have wished they bought instead. So keep your eyes out this Sunday on the blog, or sign up for the mailing list for photos of what will be sold Monday evening!
Thank you all for your support, purchases, and riding out these fluctuating schedules and prices. I’m hoping this system will help me handle this better from here on out! I want each necklace to be special, and not cranked out in a hurry or released constantly.
Bits Of My Weekend

My weekend was full of…well…cats, beads, cats, flea markets, cats, sweltering heat, and walking way too much in said sweltering heat. Mr. Arizona would correct my use of the word “sweltering” as it hasn’t quite hit 100, but Ms. Pacific Northwest would call this unacceptable. And gross. I found a flea market with vintage jewelry and beads galore, and now I have all these beads without much of a plan. I made a few necklaces for fun that I might sell, but I haven’t decided yet. Oh and um, did I mention I got through half of My So Called Life? It’s more amazing than I ever remember it being. Oh how I wish there were other seasons.
