Brass Drops Tomorrow

August 11th, 2009

3811957752 0b8bab6842 Brass Drops Tomorrow

Heads up: There will be seven brass drops necklaces in the shop tomorrow at 6pm on the dot. $30. Seven may seem like a weird number, but there were some friends who promised their first born children to me in exchange for a reserved listing, so you know, down to seven. What I’ll do with all these babies I do not know…start that sweatshop I need?

This is a special blog/twitter only announcement as it’s not a large enough amount to warrant an email to the email list. As a side note though, in the future I will be changing the email announcements, as sending it out once everything is up has proved to be pointless. They will be one-day heads up instead.

UPDATE: all sold. thanks everyone! I’ll be updating you all with plans for the next shop update soon.

Friday night we decided to take a late night walk for miles around the city sober instead of going to a bar (was a really fun experience), Saturday I got up bright and early and continued that walk all day – running errands and then on a flea market tour in Chelsea with Lauren. We got drinks and then saw Harry Potter (endlessly entertaining). Then there was a late night roof party I could barely stay awake for, which resulted in sleeping in until…well..I don’t know if I ever got up Sunday. Did absolutely nothing and didn’t get dressed til 6pm to go have dinner at Walter Foods with some lovely blogger friends (I suppose I could just call them my friends now. ha.) Got stupendously lost after I got off the late late late train (so so so unlike me!), ate the best french dip I’ve ever had, drank a strong strong drink, stumbled back to the train correctly, came home and made (slightly ruined) chocolate mousse and passed out.

Today it’s going to push 100 degrees and I am only glad to be going to work for that sweet, sweet air conditioning.

, originally uploaded by sea shanties.

Sorry blogging has been sparse friends, but yesterdays shop update stressed me out to the MAX! I’m hoping this weekend will clear my mind, but right now I’m worried about business licenses, taxes, and money. I am the most unorganized person on EARTH!

See you Monday!

Get ‘em while they’re hot, kids. And they’re gone folks. Record shattering 3 minutes. I’m feeling a little teary I’m so happy and grateful.

Also, if you had your eye on a brass drops necklace and you miss out, I’m going to make about 10 more next week and put them in the shop around Thursday/Friday (will let you know once I get on that). So don’t fret!

While I was familiar with Gemma Correll’s work before, after she added me as a flickr friend yesterday I became crazy for it. Her flickr stream has such a fun look at her sketches and behind the scenes pieces, things like her love of cats (a mutual love bonus) and funny, awkward situations (also with cats). I think I made Billy look at my computer 5 times last night while browsing (he loves the bearded cat because he’s always telling me about one that lives by us that I never see).

Guys. Let’s take a break after working hard (ha) today to get our daily Mad Men fix before season 3 premieres next week. Shot by Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair, this would have been the September cover story until they switched it to a MJ/Farrah tribute…another piece of the tragedy, no? Warning: John Hamm has his shirt off in some of these photos, which may result in you losing your train of thought and/or self control. I’m reminded of Brad & Angelina’s amazing photo story in W many moons ago, Domestic Bliss.

Jansport Heritage Series

Ohh I’m loving these Jansport Heritage Series Backpacks. A lot of Swedes told me the Fjallraven backpacks were such a nostalgic childhood memory for them, and Jansport is definitely my nostalgic childhood backpack. You were so lame if you didn’t have one in 5th grade (carried only on one shoulder, of course). These retro style ones are way, way cooler though.

The Weekly What What: The difference between us

August 5th, 2009

You Me, originally uploaded by kate / for me, for you.

I made a drawing for Billy on Sunday that I decided I’d post for today’s weekly drawing, but then I forgot to upload it to flickr before leaving for work this morning. Story of my forgetful life. So instead I’m sharing with you an old drawing because it perfectly pertains to today. I just booked tickets for us to go to Phoenix in October to visit Billy’s family, and this is a drawing I made the last time we were there. We couldn’t possibly be from two more different climates, and I thought I would sum it up like this.

I’m really excited for our Arizona trip, because this time around I will make picture taking my #1 priority, and the landscape will be so different than all my others. I love a change of scenery, and while it’s a short 4 day trip, I hope we can get some desert exploring time in. The first time I saw a saguaro cactus up close it blew my mind.

A better fan

August 4th, 2009

This is kind of random, but we have this little, crappy fan that I owe my life to in the summer because our a/c only cools the bedroom, so that little fan follows me around wherever I need it. But it’s hideous and I kind of dream of having a fan that doubles as a something nice to look at. So I did some digging.
