Some Sea Animals Of The Pacific Northwest

Banquet’s marine animals poster got a firm grasp on my heart (and wallet, haha) this morning. I know all of you probably already saw this on Design Sponge this morning, but it was too amazing for me to not share with you as well! I have the most insane love for the Pacific Northwest ocean – my family was camping on the ocean in Forks, WA long before Twilight put it on the big screen! So as soon as I saw this poster it had to be mine.

Titanium satin gold glasses

I love my glasses, and I’ve only had mine for a year, but it would be nice to have another pair to switch off with. Apparently my heart belongs to Moscot, because I’m lusting after a pair of their new titanium glasses in the round Miltzen style in satin antique gold. Titanium satin gold? Hello, amazing.

Gift Idea: Sephora Scent Sampler

4168683615 ff1282e932 Gift Idea: Sephora Scent Sampler

One of the best gifts I’ve ever discovered is the Sephora Scent Sampler. There are a few different sets to choose from, but basically you get a sample of a ton of different fragrances + a gift voucher so you can get a full size bottle of the one you like best. It’s the most genius gift idea for a girl on your list that you just couldn’t pick a fragrance for yourself – as it’s a pretty personal decision! I got this for my mom last year and she flipped out.

Gift Idea: AITA

Pretty much anything at Art In The Age makes a good gift, but the AITA Holiday Gift Pack is probably your best bet. It includes 1 Walter Benjamin tote bag, 1 box set of AITA stationery, and 2 AITA soaps.

I also think their Root Liquor would make an awesome, rare gift. I was going to get some for my dad, but alas, you cannot ship liquor to Washington state. Has anyone tried it? It sounds like someone got inside my head and made exactly what I love in booze: “Incredibly unique in flavor, fairly clean on the palate with strong notes of birch, peppery herbaceousness, spices, citrus and vanilla bean.” I’m dying to try it, someone please get it for me for Christmas, ok? The fact that they use the word herbaceousness in the description says it all.

Wendy Ornament

I completely forgot to mention in Bits Of My Weekend that the cute little Wendy ornament on our tree was sent to me by the sweet Ashley Mackay who specifically made this one to look like Wendy! Seriously, so nice of her. You can snag one for yourself in her shop. They’re hand-painted on recycled canning jar lids.

Thank you to everyone for entering the necklace giveaway! When I put the number into the random number generator I was blown away that it was up to 459 comments! Good lord, I was so happy when that generator gave me #5, because if it had been above 200 I would have gone cross-eyed having to count the comments up to that point.

So congratulations to Yulanda! I was very excited that someone I know (well, on the internet, that is) was the winner, and especially someone who seriously deserves a little sunshine as of late.

But I also decided after looking at my supplies and all those comments that a second random winner should get a brass drops, so congrats to Megan as well!

Thank you everyone, especially for your insight on what necklace colors you love and for all of your incredibly kind comments. The top favorites are definitely the gray & marigold double strand, the coral & grey double strand, and cobalt. You’ve all given me some thought on how to go about the next shop update in a different way that I may test out next year.

Oh and um, the kitten above has nothing to do with this post besides me wanting to inhale that kitten it’s so adorable. Why not a kitten? (thanks to Julie for bringing kitten happiness into my world)

It was a freeeeezing weekend, complete with a bit of snow! Friday night we went to a comedy show I won tickets to – it was fun because we got dressed up and had a date night, which we haven’t done in forever because of our completely opposite schedules this semester of school for Billy. Saturday it rained like nobody’s business – but that did NOT stop me from dragging our asses 10 blocks to get a Christmas tree. I knew it was then or never! I went to an amazing needlepoint supply store and bought some thread I’m super excited about for the necklaces, and then came home in the snow to defrost with some nog, Elvis, and Christmas decorating. I know, I’m a Hallmark card. Sunday was the Bust craft fair – which to clarify for some, I only visited, not sold at. Lauren and I stopped by for a bit, but it was insane, and we lost our shopping luster and decided to go see Up In The Air, which was really sweet. I realized the last two movies I saw starred George Clooney, which I am totally okay with because he is the best lately.

The winner of the necklace giveaway is coming soon!

Happy Weekend

This weekend I’m going to:

- get a little Christmas tree (anyone in Long Island City know where they’re selling them? Taking one home on the train sounds like the opposite of fun. UPDATE: sweet, gothamist has an awesome map of where to buy trees!)
- experiment with new ideas for the necklaces that I am STUPENDOUSLY excited about. All caps excited.
- read each and every one of your responses to the giveaway, and probably tear up a little because I’m really sappy and grateful. So far marigold and grey double strand is THE favorite! I had no idea, sometimes I don’t even make that one, sheesh. Cobalt is a close second, which I appreciate as it’s my favorite.
- go to the BUST Craftacular on Sunday! Um, so far I’m nervous because it seems as though every internet friend I know (having met and not met) in NYC is going, and that makes my social anxiety flip out a little, but mostly I’m pumped. I apologize if you say hi to me and I look like a baby deer in headlights.
- bust out my 70′s edition Elvis Christmas Album on vinyl and make Billy consider leaving me. Also, Dirty Dancing is coming through Netflix tomorrow, so I’ll just get both of those out of the way one after another and then let him play his video games for like 6 hours straight.

Have a wonderful weekend!

ps. check out my gift guide over at the shiny squirrel!
