A little splurge

I recently broke my $150 or less shoe rule for these babies. They were on sale and I had a little bit of store credit at Mohawk, but I was still really nervous about how much I was spending. I wondered if Rachel Comey boots were really as great as every cool girl gushes about, or if it’s just brand hype. Well, I can attest to the fact that it is not brand hype, and that they are the most comfortable and versatile boots ever. I walked four miles around Queens the other day in them and didn’t feel an ounce of pain. I thought they might make me kind of look like a pirate, but the backs just make the shoe more interesting looking. I will admit that Billy’s reaction to them probably puts them in the category of “girl cute” and not “boyfriend cute” like 25% of my clothing, but whatevs- I like my grandma sweaters, thankyouverymuch. Totally worth the dough.

I like them, but I agree that they're probably in the 'girl cute' category. :)

Any shoes that look that good without destroying your feet are definitely justified!

Nice!! They will have an awesome place in girl cute land with all the high waisted clothing that guys hate so much.

you know, when this collection came out, these were the first booties I wanted…and I showed them to a work friend (who has a very different style than my own), and she threw out that pirate quip…but I think they're adorable, and who cares what boys think? just as long as you love them : )

Ahhh I love me some Rachel Comey action….What I loved most about this post is the "girl cute" Vs. "guy cute". I'm glad I am not the only one who's husband/lover doesn't love everything I wear. He just doesn't get it…
PS. Everytime I wear flat tall boots Ben (My husband) asks if I am going to a sword fight….

I have a pair of wooden platform heels by Rachel Comey and despite how painful that description sounds, they are ridiculously comfortable! It surprises me everytime I wear them!

Very cute. I have been wanting the No.^ clog boots for ages but every time I am about the hit "purchase" I think about how much my husband dislikes them… just girl-cute I guess! But if you feel confident and look good in them (which I am sure you do) – that's all that matters!

Did you see Rachel Comey for Urban Outfitters? Pure love at a very reasonable price.

I was bidding on some vintage boots that had a back similar to those. I love it.

Rachel Comey shoes are totally worth the extra dough. I got the sir barton booties and even though I'm not a heel girl they are incredibly comfortable and versatile.

I've been following your blog, bought one of your necklaces last year and was influenced to get these boots when I read your post! :) I was debating for a while and just took the leap after you got them. They haven't arrived yet, but trying to justify my purchase in my mind that they will go with everything. Wearing them with tights/skirts/dresses are a given, but what kind of pants are you wearing them with? Rolled at the ankle or just straight? Thank you Kate!
