anchor ring

I’m always swooning all over the place when Erie Basin stocks new jewelry. Today is no exception, because this 1860s anchor ring is all kinds of amazing.

Wow. You guys knocked my socks off with that giveaway! More comments than ever before! You apparently feel exactly the same as I do about Forestbound. And while I wish you could all win, there can be only one winner, so congrats to Ariel for winning! The random number generator loves you.

Here she is, looking adorable over at lookbook.nu. I know, now you’re twice as jealous. Me too.
ps. I thought I’d take a stab and ask if anyone out there knows how to make the comment section numbered for CLASSIC blogger.com templates. I can only find tutorials for the upgraded blogger templates and I’m old school and would have to redesign my entire blog if I upgraded. Counting hundreds of comments for giveaways is the least fun thing ever to do at 8am. Seeing as I searched the entire internets I think it’s not actually possible, but I figured I’d try.

The finest vintage duds for your tiny lady or gentleman from Belle Heir. Some very, very vintage.

Please ignore my absence today. Pretend it didn’t happen. It’s a busy, busy week. I feel like I can’t really say I had a crazy day today when there are people out there who obviously had an unfathomably awful day, and days to come. But, let’s just look some stuff while I’m having this moment of breathing time at home, in my PJs. First up: windows to drool over. And chairs. Definitely chairs, too. Photos by Laure Joliet. via the storque.

Next, a video, just because it’s been a long day.
and then one more video, just because, of The Rolling Stones listening to their recording of “Wild Horses”, from the documentary Gimme Shelter. This is quite possibly my favorite Stones songs, but it’s way too hard for me to pick just one. They were pretty dreamy back then.
via Stephanie, who I met recently, and is awesome, and now I’m obsessed with her fantastic blog that I had only seen briefly before.
related: Iron & Wine + Calexico cover “Wild Horses”. Also awesome. Somehow this never came to my attention, even though I loved their album together so very much and saw them live together for one incredibly amazing show.
Goodnight, friends.

I’m kind of freaking out over The Catorialist blog – which is exactly what it sounds like. The titles of the post are almost better than the photos. But only almost, as the photos are pretty fantastic.

The next shop update will be Monday, January 25th at 8pm EST.
There will be about 40 necklaces – 10 brass drops, 10 of the new necklaces above (need to come up with a name for them, ha!), and 20 woven cotton necklaces. A preview of what will be sold will go up Sunday evening, and an email will be sent out to the email list subscribers with a link, and will I post a reminder here on the blog.
Your feedback at the end of last year on what necklace was your favorite helped me immensely with this shop update, I realized that I should really streamline my colors a bit more! I was only making 1 double strand necklace every shop update, when in fact that was the one everyone wanted! So there will be lots of those, a few of the standard colors, and a couple new experimental colors/threads for fun.
I’m going to try hard to get back on to updating the shop every five weeks, if not four. Being cooped up inside because of the cold lends to this nicely!

Holy want! Amazing prints by Cavern Collection. I like that they’re not ridiculously expensive, too. Or do I hate that? Uh oh…

I’m super excited to announce a giveaway this week for an amazing Forestbound bag. This is especially awesome because 1. The bag was made specifically for For Me, For You readers and 2. It’s the first ever Forestbound bag giveaway! Don’t you feel special?
The canvas used to construct the bag was salvaged from a large military container cover dated 1972. It’s fully lined with blue and white striped ticking fabric. The handles and adjustable shoulder strap are made from recycled military cotton webbing. And all the hardware used has been recycled from various olde military bags. It measures approximately 22 inches wide, 15 inches tall. Perfect size for a weekend bag!. It retails at $175.
To enter this giveaway, check out the Forestbound etsy shop, and then leave a comment here. I’ll choose a random winner this Thursday, January 14th at 8am EST. closed! the winner will be announced soon!
ps. Make sure there’s a way for me to contact you, through your blog, profile, or an email address you leave in your comment! Mystery people can’t win, because you don’t exist, obviously.

I’m really glad Wendy decided to do some excellent poses this weekend, otherwise I’d be quite empty handed this morning. I swear I did a lot this weekend! But they were all things that didn’t lend to picture taking. We visited the Fisher Landau Center For Art, which was simply amazing (no photos allowed, sadly), we went to some art openings in the area with some lovely ladies, and then we went to Dutch Kills where I proceeded to get more inebriated than I’ve been since my birthday – which of course was at the same bar. I never really drink much, and I guess their delicious cocktails and atmosphere just lured me in, making Billy laugh his head off at me on the walk home (oh how the tables did turn!) Needless to say I paid for it Sunday, but managed to drag myself to Sweetleaf (best coffee in LIC) for a rare latte (I don’t really drink coffee – fyi hilarious anonymous “not trying to be mean” anti-coffee commenter) to Williamsburg for the best damn haircut I’ve had since my first haircut in New York four years ago (that stylist moved to LA – cry). My last haircut wasn’t that terribly long ago, but my hair grows so fast and I decided to hell with it, and just cut it super short again. Jenn at Mousey Brown did a bang up job, and for the first time since moving here I’m going to definitely go back to the same stylist! Can I just tell you that I’ve had like 14 different people cut my hair in New York and I’ve never been totally satisfied? I have a haircut problem. It might be worse than my shoe addiction.
I’m cutting today short because I have so many meetings, so have a wonderful weekend! I’m looking forwarding to kicking some ass on the next batch of jewelry, which I hope will be done at the end of the month for a shop update.
A few fun things coming Monday, as well! See you then…
