New Joanna Newsom
I know I kind of disappeared, but this cold ended up kicking my butt way more than I expected, and I ended up getting worse Monday and needed to take a break. But I’m back to civilization, though very behind. So all I can give you for now is this new song from Joanna Newsom, called “Good Intentions Paving Company” from her upcoming (supposedly 3 discs!!) album Have One On Me that comes out February 23rd. I know she’s not a crowd-pleaser, and her last album didn’t grab hold of my heart as much as her first did, but this new song is just wonderful to me. I completely agree with Kitsune Noir, it’s very Joni Mitchell.

Just listened to this – Soooo good! But then again, I have always been a big fan. This sound is a bit new for her – I LOVE it!

As soon as I got used to her vocals (I once heard someone meanly describe them as a "deaf-girl's singing voice") I fell in love with her. Cannot WAIT for the new album!
Hope you feel better!

I actually kind of like this. Not nearly as twee as her other stuff…more grown up.

I didn't really like her last album at first, but I really got into it after a while; I like the songs even more after the Y's streen band EP. This new album though. 3 Discs?! And the vinyl is only $25? It's a steal!

I like how this has a bit more punch to it, it's easier to jam to if you know what I mean, but it doesn't top milk-eyed mender for me! The way she shrieks on there seems like it's missing here!
