Snow Day
No school, no work – it’s a snow day! I haven’t had a snow day in ages! This morning I woke up and raced to the window to see what the weather had brought us overnight, and peering out the window while it was still dark out took me back immediately to snow days as a kid. I’d wake up, fingers crossed, and sit glued to the local news, patiently waiting for my school district name to scroll by at the bottom under school closures. And if I was so lucky, I’d go back to bed and sleep til 10 – when it was time for my brother and I to curl up on the couch with some lucky charms and The Price Is Right. We don’t have a tv, so instead Billy and I headed to the diner down the street and read The New York Times while eating omelets. Almost as good as The Price Is Right.
The snow is still coming down hard, so these pictures may look like not much yet, but I think it will be quite a pile out there by the end of the day.

Gosh so lucky! I wish they gave out "rain days" because people in California can seriously not drive when water falls from the sky

hooray for snowdays! Nothing beats playing around in the snow followed by getting cozy in your house and watching it fall.

we got hit here (pittsburgh) hard; school has been canceled the entire week. today was the first day i got to enjoy it- walked into the neighborhood to get coffee, thanked the mailman for being out (in rain, sleet, etc.), dug out my front porch.
enjoy your snow day, too!
cheers,

Blankets of snow, I don't even know what that's like! I think 37 degrees is FREEEEZING. Maybe I should make my NYC trip now rather than in the spring/summer so I can catch all that great white. I love the first photo!!!

i guess as a canadian i'm obligated to say…that much snow is nothing! but nothing beats a good snowstorm, especially when you can go for a walk + there are no cars or crowds. :)
funfunfun. (soooo jealous you got a day off for that, too!)

Beautiful photos!
Chicago RARELY shuts down for snow… we got 10" – 13" yesterday and today business as usual… maybe a few schools got a snow day though…

These make me miss home so much! London doesn't know how to do winter like new york does.

Well said! I had the same excitement when I woke up today and found out that the office was closed. I enjoyed the nostalgia.

(oh noes, you got spammed!)
You summed up the excitement of childhood snowdays perfectly! It took me straight back to my youth… Like the other Chicago girls said, we got quite a bit but the city didn't really shut down. And I work at home; so technically, I never get a snow day!
