Dictionary Pages

I wish these pages from a 1970′s dictionary were posters, but at $8, I’d be tempted to have them scanned and blown up. The minerals poster is my favorite, as it’s my favorite trend right now. Did anyone else have one of those grow your own crystals kits when you were a kid? I would get so excited about them, and then have no patience for the results.

I TOTALLY had one of those kits … and lots of other dorky education related toys. My boyfriend thinks I’m crazy when I get excited by the Brain Quest (http://www.brainquest.com/)cards at the bookstore.

Oh my gosh – makes me think of my (now 20 yr old) son. He was obsessed with minerals. The picture would look GREAT blown up and framed.

i like. i once visited pompeii, and a geologist was on the tour with us. she pointed out which of the rocks on the ground were volcanic…it was pretty cool.

Hi there! I didn’t have this, but I was a total rock hound when I was little and still go nuts for them so my heart pretty much stopped for a moment when I saw this page. A poster is a *great* idea.

Lovely blog here, so glad I stumbled over!

I had the growing crystals kit, the sea monkeys kit, the rock tumbler, the spin art kit, the fashion plates….all of it! How’s that for nostalgia?

I love this idea. My husband has a set of 1975 encyclopedias (his birth year), and this might be a way to display some of the nostalgia better than having them stored on a shelf or in the basement.

I am actually looking for the dictionary from which that picture came. Does anyone know the name of it or who published it. I had it when I was a kid.
