for summer adventures

I want this Dusen Dusen backpack in my life. Looks like the perfect bag for summer adventures. Yes, I’m already daydreaming about summer adventures. I do a lot of dreaming, if you haven’t noticed.

Happy Anniversary, love of my life. Three years is quite short for how much we’ve built and how much has changed. There’s never a dull moment with you, which I joke drives me up the wall, but in fact it’s exactly what I need in my life. I recommend to anyone who is sleeping through their lives in boredom to find someone like you – who pulls crazy ideas out of thin air every hour and works harder and with more determination than anyone I know. You are also the most tolerant person on earth of my need to rearrange the furniture every month, and in fact encourage it. We are the best team on earth, and we’ve only just begun.
(ok stop reading here – the rest is for blog readers – that are not you – only)
Today I wish I could Billy a shiba inu pup (our obsession), but instead, tickets to see this guy in June. They’re both redheads, adorable, and make you laugh – so it’s practically the exact same gift! Right? Probably a lot less work, too… Is anyone else going to one of his shows? So excited.

Daydreaming about sprucing my studio/office up, as I’ve been spending such a ridiculous amount of time in there lately.

Just thought your Monday could use some T. Rex and be entertained the awkward dancers in this video.
My goal of cramming in as much awesome as possible this weekend was pretty successful. I had Friday night to myself to be pathetic low key and watch Bright Star with Wendy while making necklaces (and sobbing, of course) but Saturday I was up at the crack of dawn and off to Queens College to shoot Billy’s new work and our friend and other grad student Lacey’s work (the awesome work right above and 10th down) before their mid-term crits. I ran home for a quick nap (maybe I’ll start being a nap person if I can keep it under an hour and not feel gross?) and then headed off to brunch with a group of awesome ladies. When Billy got home we got tacos and margaritas, stumbled home and caught up on SLEEP! I slept 10 glorious hours. Sunday was action-packed with a visit to the Queens Zoo and the Science Museum where we hung out with copious amounts of small children that were constantly either making me pine for my own or never want anything to do with anyone under the age of 18. The Science Museum advertised that it’s for all ages, but I’m pretty sure that’s a lie as we were pretty bored. However, the zoo wasn’t too shabby, and they had a super awesome petting zoo with BABY LAMBS and other such adorable animals (PONIES!) We finished the weekend off with sushi in Greenpoint (we had to leave Queens at some point) with old friends, and I am ridiculously sad to say goodbye to the weekend. Next weekend will be back to normal, with Billy working and me back to the necklace crunch. It was so nice and totally necessary to have a weekend off, and damn fine sunny one it was.

This weather could not have come at a better time. 74 tomorrow?! Despite having more necklaces to make than my brain can even comprehend, I absolutely have to give myself this weekend off or I will implode! Brunch with lovely blog ladies tomorrow, and Sunday Billy and I have our first entire nice day together on in ages. The pressure of picking the very best and most awesomest use of our time is hard. Honestly all I can dream up is sleeeeeeeping in! Not a bad plan…
Have a great weekend, friends!
I have to admit that lately my daily blog reading has been a little less than exciting. I think I blame over-saturating my brain with WAY too many blogs in my google reader instead of curating my selections a bit better, so I find myself scrolling through through like a drone some days. But in the past week I’ve come across three blogs that have restored my faith in inspiration. I hope you love them as much as I do.

Forever Is Today – Hilda is a young student in Sweden that has impeccable taste way beyond her 22 years. Her photos knock my socks off every day.

This Is Naive – Tommy lives in London and likes beautiful things. Need I say more?

bigBANG Studio – Lily is an artist who lives in Joshua Tree, California and due to the fact that I dream about living in the rural desert every 10 minutes lately, I have been living vicariously through her for the past two days. I love what she has to say even more than her visuals, which is rare for me and blogs. I would like to quote Liz Lemon for the second time in a week: “I want to go to there.”

My little Spring trick for giving my very well-loved keds new life: leather laces. Instant prep.
Apparently I’m very foot-focused this week. So, in other news, my Warby Parker glasses arrived yesterday and the verdict is in: they are awesome. I highly recommend them. It took a little while for them to ship, but I know they were rather swamped from all the press they got, and once they did ship they were in my hands the very next day! They’re so affordable I might buy another pair. I would love for them to offer prescription sunglasses too.

One of the questions I get most often from readers is where I got my Smokey The Bear poster that I have hanging in my living room. It’s one of my favorite things I own! I got mine on ebay (thanks to an awesome reader who tipped me off after I pined for it), and someone told me you can email the Nat’l Association of State Foresters (nasfedu@embarqmail.com) to request one. But even easier – one of my favorite vintage shops on etsy, Hindsvik, has a few fantastic vintage ones in stock – here, here and here. Snatch those beauties up!

I love the new clogs from No. 6 that Totokaelo recently added. And don’t even get me started on the new Rachel Comeys they added as well – I’ve swooned myself into exhaustion and bank account configuring over her this spring. No one wants this blog to become “Rachel Comey and other things I love!” Or do you…?
ps. I’m totally aware that the blog isn’t working for some people, and that maybe you can read it in google reader but not access the site to comment. working on it, but it’s a bit of a mystery. hopefully this will be figured out soon!
