I don’t have too much to share as I spent most of my weekend in my jewelry class, but I did manage to go out for two wonderful meals, spend a little time making more shadow puppets with Billy, and take a couple long walks in the amazing weather. My class went well, because it’s such a short course (two weekends) there’s not a lot of time to do your own thing, and what we’re working on isn’t exactly my style. I also will never be able to make any of it again without access to all of that equipment, so I’m not sure what this will change in my own work if at all. I do love working with metal though, and want to take other classes to learn more! I made the ring in the photo above, but it’s kind of wonky in person – ha! We don’t use brass but I fished out a scrap piece to use for it.

It’s still gloriously warm (even warmer!) today. Oh sunshine, please do stay!!

ps. The awesome glass case is from this etsy shop gray to gold. Thank you Jessica for bringing it to my attention.

Migration

March 8th, 2010

Sorry for the delay in posting today, but we’re finally back up, now on WordPress! I’m so excited to upgrade to a more sophisticated platform, and am crossing my fingers that everything is in working order. I have seriously bad tech luck lately, I swear.

But I knew that I couldn’t do this alone with how busy I am lately and the aforementioned bad tech luck following me around, so I have Harsh of Shout Me Loud to thank for moving me over here, recreating my blog design, and fixing my feed problems. I’ve never hired someone to help me with my blog before, and it was a great experience, especially after I seriously failed at it trying to do it myself last weekend.

Ok, let’s get back to schedule, friends.

Have a wonderful weekend

, originally uploaded by coquinete.

Bits Of My Weekend might be a little lacking on Monday because I’m taking a metalsmithing class all weekend at the 92nd st Y! Of course this class falls on the warmest weekend of the year coming our way, and I’ll be inside all day, but hopefully when I get out of class the sun will still be shining in all it’s glory. I can’t wait for this class, but I’m a little nervous too because it’s a little out of my comfort zone to do something like this alone. Wish me luck!

Also, I’m working with someone to move this blog to wordpress, so there’s a chance there could be some glitches or downtime in the next few days, so fear not! Hopefully everything will be right as rain again.

Have a splendid weekend.

I’m really loving the work of Stacey Rozich in her interview over at Fecal Face. I’m also happy to see that she went (or goes?) to the same school I went to in Seattle. Her works makes me want to paint, which is a big compliment because not much inspires me to do that lately!

I love Melly’s new creations made out of real twigs, hemp, string, origami leaves and beads. I want to hang one on my wall for good luck. You can buy one here in her green laundry etsy shop.

I haven’t been able to slow down my obsession with adding beautiful textiles/patterns to my favorites on etsy lately. Some more ethnic/native-vibe patterns for you, more wearable this time, after your love for that chevron purse.

down the rabbit hole

March 4th, 2010

I have to admit that I’m slightly indifferent about seeing the new Alice in Wonderland movie, as much as I love Tim Burton and visually stunning movies. I’m not sure what it is, I just haven’t jumped on the ecstatic bandwagon that so many people are on right now. Maybe because I couldn’t stand Sweeney Todd? (Update: Miss Crowland totally reminded me of why I’m skeptical: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) But I do love the story, and most of the very first film adaptation (a silent film of course) of the story from 1903 was restored after being severely damaged. How amazing is it? I have to say that watching it is making me a bit more excited to see the new movie.

As much as I love vintage, I have a hard time finding vintage dresses that I love and that actually fit me. But Lea’s Vintage has some wonderful, simple, and affordable vintage dresses that are calling my name (and a poncho, because it’s almost poncho season!)

Sublet Fall 2010

I’m over the moon about Sublet’s Fall 2010 collection. The prints! The shapes! Oh my, love. And do you recognize Annie Hart of Au Revoir Simone? (First three photos) And do those necklaces look familiar? Heck yes, those are mine! And the third is Jenny’s of course. Those girls at Sublet are just the very best. They even collaborated with the very talented Caroline Hwang on one of the prints (above photo.)

Technical Difficulties

March 2nd, 2010

Sorry for the technical difficulties lately, readers! Any comments made from Saturday evening til yesterday around 9pm disappeared, and the rss feed was down during that period of time. I promise I wasn’t censoring any comments! :) Also, for those of you who switched to the new feed, we’re back to the old feed now at: http://forme-foryou.com/atom.xml

I’m hoping to switch to wordpress in the next few months, but am so busy the idea of that makes my head spin! But hopefully that switch will go smoothly and you won’t even noticed a thing.

Thanks for being such wonderful readers and friends.
