Friday Bits

Baggu backpack

A great bag for summer adventures. I’m quite amazed at the quality for how affordable it was. I had to upgrade from my Fjällräven mini because I couldn’t fit my growing collection of cameras I like to carry around with me some days!

I am loved

Surprise flowers at work for a sick & busy me from a boy who loves me.

generous

And a unexpected gift – a new cover for my butterfly chair- from some kind guys.

ps. the lamp, in action.

Have a wonderful weekend! And don’t forget – shop update on Sunday at 4pm EST! Photos & a reminder will be posted/emailed tomorrow evening.

Steven Alan x Keds

April 29th, 2010

Steven Alan x Keds = perfection. Available this Saturday at Steven Alan online and in stores for $68. Which the price wasn’t so steep for Keds, but that’s cheap for Steven Alan. Plus, ikat, guys!

Cat Blog Love

April 28th, 2010

Cats are such internet superstars lately, much to my excitement. Joining the special part of my blog-reading heart I have for The Catorialist are two more awesome cat blogs: Gatopoder (via Allison/Jena) and Anabela‘s new tumblr, dreamcats. It’s cool to be a cat lady these days, thankfully.

A good lamp

April 28th, 2010

Do you remember a year and a half ago when I talked about needing a new lamp, and the choices I was looking at*? Well, apparently that’s how long it takes to make a decision, and/or decide how in need you are of a new lamp. Can’t just half of the living room be lit properly? A decision was made, and we scooped up the Ada lamp at CB2 last night (that box was particularly fun to take home on the subway.) It’s super awesome, and the shade is so much nicer in person – it’s not white, but a sort of off-white silk-like textured fabric that gives it a vintage look. For $60 (a steal) I give it the thumbs up. It is odd to buy a lamp with the same name that you hope to give your future daughter someday, but if that does happen we’ll just not mention the lamp to her. That would be awkward.

*you may have commented on that post, but who would know, because apparently comments on old posts have vanished. Deep breath.

That was a really long post about a lamp. I blame the fever that I seem to be coming down with.

Best Coast

April 27th, 2010

I know Music Monday was yesterday, but I couldn’t resist sharing with you what I’ve been daydreaming to all day, Best Coast. The rain finally decided to take a hike and the sun is shining, and I’m ready for warmer days. Best Coast is the perfect soundtrack for summer, no? Their sound feels so nostalgic to me too, for my days of Breeders and Sleater Kinney loving. Maybe it’s that certain TV show I’ve been watching lately, but I’ve been nostalgic about high school a lot lately. Despite it not being my favorite thing on earth. Ha.

ps. I love their new song, too.

For my adventurous side

April 27th, 2010

I’m not usually adventurous when it comes to pants, but something about this pair at Pixie Market is calling to me. But I will admit I wish they came in solid navy, too. ha.

Peace Industry Felt Rugs

April 27th, 2010

Absolutely amazing felt rugs by Peace Industry. The rugs are made by a method that is “a revitalization of the oldest rug tradition from Iran that had been on the verge of extinction.” In case their looks didn’t amaze you enough already.

Music Monday

April 26th, 2010

I recently remembered that I created an 8tracks account forever ago and never did anything with it. Well, rainy Sundays are pretty perfect for making mixes, no? The idea came when I was looking for a Heart song in iTunes and searched “Heart”, and of course a million songs came up that weren’t Heart. I realized how many songs have that word in it, and decided to make a mix. Then I picked some other words that I had tons of good songs that fit. I think “Fire” is my favorite. It’s feisty, as it should be.

heartbluelovefire (I just spent 20 minutes typing out the tracklist and firefox quit on me and wordpress didn’t save my draft, so you can just click on each mix to see the tracks:) thanks, technology!)

Bits Of My Weekend

April 26th, 2010

I can fit, I swear

sunset pasta
perfect muffins

I am so tired, let’s just let the photos do the talking today, shall we? Oh ok, just a brief rundown: bk bbq, hunter open studios, two mile jog (1st time in four years, still so sore I can barley walk), eggs benedict, necklace photo shoot, quality time with Tim Riggins*, pasta making, muffin making, a walk in the rain, a much needed haircut, missing my bus but catching the train – going the wrong direction, mix making, kitten cuddling, Sunday procrastination at its best.

*who doesn’t love a good inside FNL joke? Pffft, not me.

New Necklace Peek

April 23rd, 2010

New Necklace Peek

A peek at the new necklaces I’m cooking up for May 2nd’s release.

More photos (that make these look less wonky – hey, it’s early) will come late next week when I can do a real photo shoot!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
