Music Monday

The new Black Keys album, Brothers, is so damn good. You could maybe whine about it not being as raw and gritty as they used to be, but I don’t ever expect a band to do the same thing over and over again. I’m reminded of the change in sound Iron & Wine has gone through – which took me a while to warm up to. It’s a more produced, polished sound – and though it may not be for everyone, it’s something new, and I dig it. And when I need that raw and gritty sound, I’ll just put on Thickfreakness.

Yay! It’s out now! I was looking forward to this one, and I agree, the slightly more pop sound works for them.

I listened to it more times in a row than I care to admit on Friday. I also danced around my apt all by myself for the first listen. We’re going to see them at Central Park Summer Stage and I am super psyched!

Yes! Home town pride for these fellas. Everyone here in Akron freaks oooout when their songs come on in the bar or at parties. It’s mayhem. I actually think I like their new album better than their past work.

I think this was the first album I ever pre-ordered from iTunes. Their show in Seattle was so amazing – more so because as the guys started .. uh.. slam dancing, they stopped the show to tell them to “be careful of the ladies or they were going to stop the show”. Yes? Yes.
