Music Monday
Originally I wanted to do a little original vs. the covers today for Music Monday because of some awesome David Bowie covers I’ve been loving lately. But apparently the Bowie camp has a firm death grip on youtube and it’s hard to find what I was looking for. So instead I’ll just share some of my favorites from Urban Outfitters LSTN #9 mix. I think it’s their best mix yet. I’ve been listening to it over and over and over (and over and over) again this weekend. I don’t know any other big companies that put together such good mixes. Sadly you can only download it in the US (feel like I’m always sharing US-only things, sorry!) – but here are the best that you should check out:

Pantha Du Prince – Stick To My Side (Four Tet Version)
The Morning Benders – Excuses (I love the album version, which is slightly different than this gem I shared before.) I think this is the song I play on repeat the most.
A few of my other faves weren’t on youtube – like The Vivian Girls cover of “John I’m Only Dancing” – which is SO good. I listened to them & Best Coast while I sweated to death all Saturday while I prepared the shop update.

i’m a fan of morning benders. i’m bookmarking this post to listen to the songs you recommended. have you heard the tallest man on earth? he’s this swedish folksy (voice sounds like bdylan) guy and i love every song..

You may enjoy the music download site Blalock’s Indie/Rock Playlist. This group creates a user submitted playlist every month and I have noticed similarities with Urban Outfitter’s playlist, however Blalock’s usually consists of around 100+ songs..check it out I am sure you’ll enjoy it..

@caroline I’ve heard of him but somehow can’t remember if I’ve actually listened to him. Though I may be the only person on earth who is not a Dylan fan, so we’ll see. ha!

And don’t get me started on the worldwideweb that isn’t worldwide after all – like with the UO mixes, and at shops like West Elm and Pottery Barn, which forbid access to us outside North America, and itunes, which will not allow me, a Canadian, to purchase Canadian songs because I happen to live in the Netherlands. *fume*
