Calder Rings

Amazing new rings by Conroy & Wilcox.
Everything they make is amazing, they’re my fantasy wedding ring jeweler. I haven’t said this in a long time, but, le sigh.

I agree with Victoria, I love the nail polish colors in Topshop’s new makeup line. The packaging is pretty fantastic as well.

I’m trying to lighten up my wardrobe for the summer, and I’m really loving whites, pinks, and peaches – colors I usually avoid (but I was just reading somewhere – can’t remember where – that “never” is a hot fashion trend.) I know I’m not the only one to feel this way as well. I went to Zara and Uniqlo today and clearly they also feel the same. So ok, I’m not a very original thinker this season because I guess it’s just surrounding me. And vintage is where the best of it is.

I love love love love love (and love) the geometric goodness going on in some of the new DwellStudio patterns. If those pyramid sheets are as soft as my linen edge sheets, they may need to get on bed asap. Whenever we change our sheets to something different, it all feels like sandpaper.
Originally I wanted to do a little original vs. the covers today for Music Monday because of some awesome David Bowie covers I’ve been loving lately. But apparently the Bowie camp has a firm death grip on youtube and it’s hard to find what I was looking for. So instead I’ll just share some of my favorites from Urban Outfitters LSTN #9 mix. I think it’s their best mix yet. I’ve been listening to it over and over and over (and over and over) again this weekend. I don’t know any other big companies that put together such good mixes. Sadly you can only download it in the US (feel like I’m always sharing US-only things, sorry!) – but here are the best that you should check out:
Caribou – Odessa
Pantha Du Prince – Stick To My Side (Four Tet Version)
The Morning Benders – Excuses (I love the album version, which is slightly different than this gem I shared before.) I think this is the song I play on repeat the most.
A few of my other faves weren’t on youtube – like The Vivian Girls cover of “John I’m Only Dancing” – which is SO good. I listened to them & Best Coast while I sweated to death all Saturday while I prepared the shop update.

Jenny has absolutely outdone herself this time. My heart is skipping all kinds of beats over her summer line. I knew she had something amazing up her sleeve, and I know she’s been hard at work on this, but I just had no idea how amazing it would all be. She mentioned this collection was inspired by her move to New York, and I can definitely see that. I love the beach photos, and I got excited like a little kid at the sight of my necklaces making an appearance too. Check out more photos on her blog.
I couldn’t have had worse timing for the shop update. First, I’m sick. I thought it would be a quick and easy sickness but it decided to hold me for dear life this weekend, which is so kind of it. Second, oppressive heat that I am not ready for, nor is our a/c-deprived apartment. But, somehow despite all that, things went smoothly and I had a lovely weekend. There were walks in the sunshine, a trip to Michael’s for craft necessities (I dip-dyed that tote bag), delicious food, and lots of productivity. Lots. Also? so much green this weekend. I don’t remember LIC being so green, but it is. And I love it. Next weekend my dad and step mom are coming to town, and I can’t wait to love this city some more, because I have to admit that up until recently I was really hating it (could have something to do with the fact that I’m 90% sure that I got sick from a sick woman who coughed on me on the train last week?) Sometimes New York does that to you though, and it just needs some tough love.
Preview of the shop update now up! Don’t forget – tomorrow at 4PM EST!
A reminder: this is a smaller update of 25 necklaces, and there are no classic friendship-style necklaces in this update*. But there is a new style of necklace – the crown sinnet (I just named it after the knot because I’m not about fancy namin’) – which is awesome, and there will be a TON of double strand necklaces available in July. So sit tight, friends! Preparing myself for emails about this topic, so I just like to remind, remind.
Also, while the new necklace is a lot more work than the others and uses more expensive thread, for this first release I’ve only priced it slightly higher than the classic friendship necklaces because I feel like I’m still getting the hang of them and didn’t want to charge what I think they should be at just yet. So, next time the price will probably go up a bit. But I’m a perfectionist, so don’t think I’m saying that this batch is wonky:)
*Except for one double strand that was lost in the mail for months and then was suddenly returned to me after I had already sent a replacement. He’s in perfect condition, of course. He needs a good forever home.
