Vintage Glasses

October 26th, 2010

MOD Vintage on Etsy has one of the best selections of vintage eyeglasses I’ve ever seen. Plus, they’re new old-stock, so they’re in perfect shape. A pair has been sitting in my Etsy favorites for a while now, so I can’t quite remember how I found them, but I suspect Alison had something to do with the discovery.

ps. If you live in NYC, this place in Chinatown will put prescription lenses in frames for super cheap – I had a vintage pair made into prescription sunglasses for $60. (thank you Emily!)

You know I love this shop! I’m so, so tempted to buy some, and the ones you chose are my favorites. I go to Chinatown Optical (why are there so many opticians in Chinatown?!) and they’re great. I get my prescriptions filled and my eyes checked. Totally professional and awesome!

Wow – these truly are perfect. I posted a photo today of me in my favorite 1950s vintage frames! Eyeglasses make me happy [and I'm pretty much blind without them]. LOVE!

I’ve had a pair of these glasses saved in my Etsy for a while now! Thanks to you, I now have to get them because of the bum rush this blog post is going to cause. So, you owe me $66.00, missy! :)

I have been wearing my glasses for the past couple of days — these frames are so much neater than my boring brown square frames!

Wow, these glasses are each so gorgeous. I’ve really wanted a tortoisey, round pair, but have such trouble finding something just right–elegant and classy and not too oversized hipstery. Hard to find!
I’ll definitely check out this shop. You chose such beauties!
    xoxo,
