Weekly Music

July 14th, 2011

An epic mix of ladies. Epic! So epic I just had to stop, even though I know so many awesome ladies are missing from this. But it’s a start. I tried to stick to solo artists or all female bands, but a few lady-headed bands had to be included as well. Enjoy!

For Me, For You Shop Update Heads Up

July 11th, 2011

I told you the next shop update wouldn’t be too far away! Next Sunday, July 17th, at 10am PST in the shop. This is a relatively small, simple update with nothing new introduced except for two special bracelet colors (photos coming soon) I thought would be fun for summer. I’m trying out an earlier time of the day for the update for some of my international customers who don’t get a stab at it.

So, mark your calendars. Spread the word. Start stretching your clicking fingers now.

Sick days putting a damper on most things fun in this household, a little bit of moving, lots and lots of working, getting my appetite and eating teeth back, day dreaming about the new apartment (3 more weeks of slow moving), did I mention working working working? Shop update next weekend, stay tuned for the details, kids…

Friday Bits

July 8th, 2011

A short week, but one I’m still glad to be over as I’m just having one of those summers so far that’s just one thing after another stressing me out! I know I owe a lot of people emails right now, and I hope you forgive me. My health is not where I’d like it to be, and I’m scrambling to catch up still from the whole wisdom teeth ordeal and my poorly timed vacation. On top of all that, moving! Oh jeez, moving. I’m going to stop thinking about my to-do list and just look at these nice things:

1. A Great Gatspy-inspired birthday party in a garden.
2. The Owls Are Not What They Seem, a mix from Andrea for the Log Lady fans.
3. Meighan kicks off her new podcast series with a serious art heavyweight, Steve ESPO Powers.
4. Fantastic photos by Matt Blodgett, all taken with Kodak Funsavers. via Brian.
5. Pretty new summer dresses by Vain & Vapid.
6. Excited to check out all the recommendations on East Side Bites, a great East-side of LA food blog. via Natalie.
7. My dad was actually the one to show me this beautiful recipe video over the weekend – he’s obsessed with finding cool videos on vimeo. I’ve seen it floating around the web this week, so clearly he’s a trendsetter. Beet Cake by Tiger In A Jar. I want to taste this!
8. The Nothing Is New shop is lookin’ good, lookin’ good.
9. I love this affordable cedar leaning planter. via

Have a wonderful weekend!

Other People’s Houses

July 7th, 2011

All of my photos for the show were taken with an Ikon Ikoflex

The wait is over – Other People’s Houses, the show I went to London for, is now online for all to see! Vic did such a great job putting this show together, and the site looks amazing. Here are a few of my photos, head over to the site to see the rest!

Trip home to Seattle, part 2: BFFs, tacos, blackberry pie, spreading the Maple Sour gospel, adorable little ladies, fireworks in the park, car washing, pad thai cooking lessons, window seat view gazing.

Seriously so sad to be back to reality, I tell you. I miss my family so much. Once a year is not enough! Hope that changes now that I’m closer to them. 2.5 hour flights feel like a breeze compared to before.

Trip home to Seattle part 1: lots of family time on my mom’s side, grandpa’s boat on Lake Meridian, traditional suburban dinner at Red Lobster (lots of alcohol necessary), a bonfire, a ukelele, s’mores, blissfully ignoring the internet.

Friday Bits

July 1st, 2011

Hello July! Can I just tell you that June was a pretty awful, stressful month? I am so excited for it to be over and to start fresh with July. In other news, we’ve now lived in LA for six months! Dang, time flies.

1. I’m so excited that Illana Kohn is making clothing again! Her latest collection is small, simple, and perfect. I’m crying a little that I can’t buy this Kate dress right now.
2. I cannot wait to dip-dye some curtains for the new apartment. I’m thinking a cheap white pair from ikea, dipped in a dark grey, for the bedroom. Maybe, if I’m feeling adventurous, marigold. via simple lovely via litenbjoern
3. I’d love to stand amongst these solar powered sun boxes, emitting lovely notes in a field. Installation by Craig Colorusso.
4. Fourth of July, 1954. via even*cleveland
5. Afton’s recent road trip photos are in-sane. The colors in this photo of Zion are unreal.
6. Speaking of beautiful photos, Kim introduced me to photographer Parker Fitzgerald who has a similar Mamiya as mine, who also commented on my last post with tons of info on the camera (thank you!!). Whoa, if only mine will turn out half as incredible as these!

I am flying to Seattle tonight to hang out with my family for the long weekend – so posting will resume Wednesday. I get in incredibly late Tuesday night, so weekend bits may not come til Wednesday evening. At first I was nervous about taking time off from my life after the whole wisdom teeth thing derailing me for a week, but I’m realizing how much I need a few days to recharge, internet free! You gotta indulge sometimes. I hope you’re all doing something fun as well. I see a lot of pie in my future.
