October

We escaped twice to Palm Springs while Will was receiving chemo, this was the first, before he was too sick to leave the apartment and then again when he was past the low dip of the inverted bell curve that was first explained to us going into it all. It wasn’t particularly financially smart of us, but the cheapest non-offensive hotel I could find in the quiet desert with a giant shaded balcony, one that Will could sit and get fresh air on, and it was worth it. I think this was the day before we shaved his head, before everything felt 100 times more real to have him look like such a stranger. It feels like 100 years ago.
