Him

I never mentioned that Will and I celebrated our five-year anniversary in March. And I also didn’t mention that around the same time he had his three month CT scan and everything was shrinking and looking great and as hoped. Both were big things, but I’ve fluctuated between wanting to share my heart with you guys and wanting to be a stranger. Such is the strange, complicated life of a person putting their life online, a blogger.
fun fact: Will is wearing the same exact shirt in these photos, even though only two were taken on the same day. When he buys a new article of clothing (which is never), it basically becomes “the one”.

I agree it can be a bit strange putting personal things on the internet, and often I feel a bit strange commenting on those personal things, too. But sometimes, it’s just cool to know that there are some good things happening in the world, and I think this is one of those good, cool things. Congratulations to you both.

those are both big and beautiful things! congratulations!
it’s the bloggers fight: how much is for the world, and how much is for me? and, as far as i can tell, it’s up to each individual blogger…

Congratulations to both of you! My boyfriend tom is the same when he gets a new shirt. He has a stripy one which is the first thing he’s bought in forever and he now wears it all the time.. :)

I feel like it’s a dude thing — picking one shirt to be “the one.”
But anyway, congrats on everything. I respect you for not sharing too much, but it’s nice to hear happy news anyway.

Thrilled to hear of your good news!! I also had to chime in about the t-shirt thing because Chad does that too. So funny! It’s like the older & grosser it gets the more he looooooves it. Shoes, specifically sneakers, on the other hand (or foot, in this case) are a whole other story. Dude definitely has more kicks than I do.

I understand that after a while it does become weird to share one’s personal life online, I’m not even sure I know where the line is anymore.
I’m so happy that Will is doing well. Congrats on five years together! :)

Cheers to five years and Will’s health!
I totally have a new shirt which is “the one” (I wore it four days last week). This is why I will never be a fashion blogger, too many repeats.

Such good news to hear that Will is doing great :) I think of him/you guys often and wonder how he’s doing, whenever I happen to glance at the print of yours that I bought, when he first got sick.
Happy anniversary!

It can be tough finding the right balance of sharing confidences about your life and not putting too many personal things out to all corners of the world. I, for one, am very happy that you decided to share these happy milestones with us. Congratulations on Will’s great scan, and on five wonderful years together… I wish you health and happiness together for many, many decades to come.

I do the same thing as Will with clothes – I have a teeny tiny wardrobe, because I wear things out and don’t buy much. It’s a wardrobe filled with ‘the ones’. I have an old black jumper that used to belong to a boyfriend of mine, it’s still my favourite, I can’t bring myself to replace it.
Can I just say, I think these are some of my favourite images of yours, because they do have that personal and intimate edge to them, without revealing too much. I walk that fine line between wanting to share things about myself on my blog and wanting to be private. Sometimes I can’t believe that I even have a blog since I’m quite a shy and private person in real life. Maybe our blogs are like a way of negotiating that shyness with the world.

A few years ago my husband then aged 35 got cancer and one of the things that got me through this was an american husband and father blogging very open-hearted about his wife fighting the same cancer as my husband. Those of you who are brave enough to put it out there are true heros. I couldn’t at the time but I am forever grateful for the support I got from those who made me understand that I am not alone. Thank you, Kate and Will. Your doing a great and loving thing.

And please don’t worry about responding comments. When you think about it it’s absurd. As a reader I surf around all these amazing blogs that people created. Getting inspiration, new perspectives etc. For free. Interaction is great but it should not be a restraint.

Mmm… I’m dying to go to the beach right now. It has gotten so hot it’s getting unbearable (and the summer hasn’t even started yet).
Oh, and congrats on the 5-year anniversary! I hope everything continues on the up and up!
