I completely understand this one! I have a group of female friends that I’ve not really had before… and the silliest things come to mind about them vs Liam, my partner. Oh well. Good lady friends are hard to come by, and they can make life so very happy.

this is such a great (small) reflection on friends who are girls. i am the same – have few girls who are close friends, and am still trying to navigate my way around the girl world. i think that someone best described to me your perfect balance – if you want to do it, do it. i’ve started to think like that with dating, and i so see the girl world of friends as a similar playing field. hang out with who you want to hang out with, and spend time with those people when you want to. that way they know the real you, AND you get to do what makes you most happy!

This is a lovely post. I so wish I had a group of great girl friends to hang out with. I lived in London for years and now I live by the sea with my husband and for whatever reason I only see my friends if I make the effort to go into London. They don’t feel the need to leave the city. It can be lonely here by myself so it’s great to hear that it’s not impossible to forge a great group of friends when you move. Problem is I’m too shy and socially awkward! How did you do it, making friends in a new place, starting from scratch?

ah you’re so lucky! a group of girlfriends is what I really need nowadays. It is so hard to make good ties with people that you just meet, it takes time, but once you have it, you should really appreciate it, (as you do). lucky girls! :)

I completely identified with what you wrote, Kate. I too am a serial best friender (thanks for the cool term :) )
I have been very close with one person for two-three years, but then we either end up drifting away or having some kind of falling out. I’ve not experienced the boyfriend part, though. I find that a friendship with a boy has less drama (unless, you have a gay best friend like I currently do, then you’ll probably have a lot more drama). But it’s inherently easier to start conversations with girls & bond. I’m so happy for you & your group of friends. :)
