Weekly Music

Happy Monday! It feels about as wintery as it gets here in LA, with temps that have been dipping into the 30s, our Christmas tree is up, egg nog in my coffee every morning, and Sufjan’s Christmas album on repeat. But it was also a good weekend for new music and new discoveries.

The War On Drugs have a new album coming out in March, which is terribly exciting, and the first excellent release “Red Eyes” is out.

Aquarium Drunkard‘s latest Transmission mix is so great, I listened to it on constant repeat over the weekend. You can download or stream it here and definitely check out the previous Transmissions.

This song is actually two years old, but somehow I’d never heard this fantastic Mr Little Jeans cover of Arcade Fire’s “Suburbs”. You may know her from her popular song “Oh Sailor” that was released this year.

Great picks! Love the Suburbs cover.

Am I the only one who hates the pop-up Soundcloud comments during the song? Is there a way to shut that off? (I sound like an angry old man)

yes, it’s so annoying! though I usually just leave the window open and go do something else in other windows so I don’t look at them for very long, ha.

For some reason I never respond to blog posts but I felt that I should really thank you for posting, especially the weekly music posts. I feel like I live under a rock when it comes to music. The area I live in is notorious for thinking that one could only love country music (by far not my favorite). So thanks for the suggestions! Also, the Suburbs cover – love!
