It was a restless weekend. I decided quickly on Saturday that I'm so, so ready for Spring and that I'd be totally fine with Winter ending asap. It wasn't a bad weekend at all, it was just one of those weird blah ones where the highlights included rearranging the living room and watching every single episode of Parks and Recreation on hulu (hooked). Even Wendy was acting strange and sitting in strange places (see above). But that's ok, I have a 4.5 day work week and then a 3 day weekend to look forward to. Also wonderful is that the sun doesn't set until 5:30 lately, and that makes me a happy camper.

ps. my cowl was made by my talented step-sister (you should have her knit you something!) and that polar bar print hanging from the pants hanger in the 5th photo is a print I won (won! I never win anything!) from atlantic treefox.

Apparently this weekend involved a lot of food. Other things this weekend involved were coughing, coughing, and coughing. I'd been feeling a bit under the weather at the end of last week, but figured it was just allergies, and at the beginning of this weekend I apparently pushed myself over the edge by drinking a liter of beer at Radegast (the size of your head, in case you were wondering) and going to an unheated flea market when it was around 15 degrees. So, Saturday night til this very moment, my bed is my best friend. But I did eat delicious food, find awesome stuff at the flea market, and get a quick trip in to The Folk Art Museum. So all in all, not really that bad of a weekend. Oh and being sick in bed is a perfect excuse to force yourself to finish your taxes, buy marshmallow clouds, and watch Paris, Texas (so, so good) while eating chocolate chip cookies made from the pre-made package (a totally ok thing to do while sick.)

ps. just a reminder that you can click the photos in Bits Of My Weekend to find out more about them! Most hold their own little stories. Well, when I'm feeling up to it. ha.

This weekend was nonstop working. It's my fault for saving so much to do for the shop update until the last minute, but I guess that's just how I roll:) I only left the house twice to run errands, so I barely have anything interesting to share! Sometimes a few days of crazy work feels good though, it's satisfying to fall into bed and just pass out. Now excuse me while I pass out on the train to work...

This weekend involved: a potluck, bowling, beer, sleeping in, insane subway problems (mercury in retrograde, anyone? my phone stopped working for a while, too), lots of time in the kitchen, necklace making sweatshop, Drugstore Cowboy for the first time (so good), a trip to Billy's studio, Spicy & Tasty in Flushing, and loving this "warm" 40 degree weather.

I'm really glad Wendy decided to do some excellent poses this weekend, otherwise I'd be quite empty handed this morning. I swear I did a lot this weekend! But they were all things that didn't lend to picture taking. We visited the Fisher Landau Center For Art, which was simply amazing (no photos allowed, sadly), we went to some art openings in the area with some lovely ladies, and then we went to Dutch Kills where I proceeded to get more inebriated than I've been since my birthday - which of course was at the same bar. I never really drink much, and I guess their delicious cocktails and atmosphere just lured me in, making Billy laugh his head off at me on the walk home (oh how the tables did turn!) Needless to say I paid for it Sunday, but managed to drag myself to Sweetleaf (best coffee in LIC) for a rare latte (I don't really drink coffee - fyi hilarious anonymous "not trying to be mean" anti-coffee commenter) to Williamsburg for the best damn haircut I've had since my first haircut in New York four years ago (that stylist moved to LA - cry). My last haircut wasn't that terribly long ago, but my hair grows so fast and I decided to hell with it, and just cut it super short again. Jenn at Mousey Brown did a bang up job, and for the first time since moving here I'm going to definitely go back to the same stylist! Can I just tell you that I've had like 14 different people cut my hair in New York and I've never been totally satisfied? I have a haircut problem. It might be worse than my shoe addiction.

The Best Of Bits Of My Weekend

Bits Of My Weekend has been going strong since February, and because I'm currently out of town and can't share my weekend with you today, and this is the last Monday of 2009, I decided to pick my favorite photo from every weekend I've shared so far. Some are just personal favorites, some are favorites of yours. It's nearly been a year and I still look forward to uploading photos every Sunday evening to flickr, even on those evenings where I'm not too excited about the photos from that weekend. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and I'll see you next year! This has been one completely amazing year.

It's hard to talk about anything else that happened this weekend without just wanting to move on to talking about all the SNOW! So. Much. Snow. I can count on one hand how many times I've seen a foot or more of snow, being from Seattle and all, so snow storms get me rather excited. Saturday I spent all day in bed with Wendy trying to tackle that cold I had with more orange juice than is possibly even healthy, reading The Help (finished all 444 pages of it in 2 days it was so damn good) and watching the snow come tumbling down. Sunday we woke up to the blizzard's bounty and my health mostly back in check, so I declared an adventure was in order. Because Long Island City isn't exactly the most bustling neighborhood on the weekends, the snow plows didn't get to some of the streets, which made for a trip to the drug store an actual adventure. The weekend was literally a rotation of reading, cuddling with Wendy, and eating. Because that's what you do when you're sick and there's snow. You might also be happy to know that I spent a good chunk of time working on new jewelry ideas, which I'm pretty excited to share with you soon. Oh, and also, enjoying my copy of Remedy Quarterly, and my new Forestbound tote (perfect for a snowstorm adventure) that came just in the nick of time Friday before I left work.

ps. I finally had time to make things BIGGER around here! Enjoy the larger photos, and remember that they're clickable to my flickr pages that have more info on them.

Such a great weekend.

It was a freeeeezing weekend, complete with a bit of snow! Friday night we went to a comedy show I won tickets to - it was fun because we got dressed up and had a date night, which we haven't done in forever because of our completely opposite schedules this semester of school for Billy. Saturday it rained like nobody's business - but that did NOT stop me from dragging our asses 10 blocks to get a Christmas tree. I knew it was then or never! I went to an amazing needlepoint supply store and bought some thread I'm super excited about for the necklaces, and then came home in the snow to defrost with some nog, Elvis, and Christmas decorating. I know, I'm a Hallmark card. Sunday was the Bust craft fair - which to clarify for some, I only visited, not sold at. Lauren and I stopped by for a bit, but it was insane, and we lost our shopping luster and decided to go see Up In The Air, which was really sweet. I realized the last two movies I saw starred George Clooney, which I am totally okay with because he is the best lately.

The winner of the necklace giveaway is coming soon!

Contrary to what these photos may have you believing, I actually did the leave the house this weekend - and that's why there aren't many photos. I seem to be in this phase lately where I feel pressured to take photos to document everything we do for Bits Of My Weekend - and it feels too forced and unnatural, so I just keep my camera in my bag and enjoy the moment. We went to the Whitney on Saturday and saw the Georgie O'Keefe show, and then walked all the way across Central Park (which if you've been, you know isn't really possible, so there was lots of weaving around) to get to the West side to visit some used book sellers on the streets over there. That night we had friends over for Scrabble, Indian food, and cocktails (I won Scrabble! first time ever against a group of people.) Sunday we went Billy's studio to shoot his new work (more on that later!) and then I spent the rest of the day packing orders and getting ready for next Sunday's update. This morning I had one of those dreaded alarm clock moments where you're in complete denial that the time is set correctly. I'm actually still in denial...

I'll keep this short because I'm crawling back in bed, I'm crossing my fingers for raging allergies and not a cold coming on. This weekend was busy busy in the studio, but Saturday's gloomy darkness ruined my plans of reshooting all of the necklaces. Maybe that was for the best because I'm not sure how I could have fit that in. I did manage to take tons of necklace photos Sunday, so my weekend photos aren't that great today because I just wasn't thinking about weekend bits as much. I took a break to make snickerdoodles yesterday, as baking is very therapeutic for me for some reason. I have way too many, do you want one? I'm handing you one right now, they're delicious.

Besides so very many errands that had to be run all weekend, I made enough necklaces that has to qualify me for some kind of world record of awesomeness. What helped is that Billy had this sudden need to go to his studio and work, so I went with him and set a table up to work as well, and damn did I get a lot done with that kind of motivation. Sunday morning Billy turned to me and said, "What do you think about maybe rearranging the living room?" because he knows the key to my heart: rearranging furniture. We set to it, and it looks 800 times better! I think that my one of my special powers is rearranging furniture to make a room look better. I should be on Oprah. Or maybe Tyra, I'm probably more Tyra material, huh? We also set to making some shelving, but during all the drilling and hammering my neighbor got mad! Apparently someone likes quiet time on a Sunday afternoon. Hrmphh. Doesn't he know how badly we need some shelves? Anyway, it was a wonderful weekend of kicking ass and awesome weather. A formal announcement about the upcoming shop update is coming soon! I got madness up my sleeve, I tell you!

Or should I say Bits Of My Sunday? I have terrible jet lag, and on top of the time change and extreme climate change, I'm kind of a zombie. Wendy and I hung out big time today, and I made so many necklaces it hurts a little to type right now. I also noticed that I have a callus on my pointer finger from weaving thread. Which I'm kind of proud of. I also finally listened to NPR's "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!" tonight while making necklaces and I'm officially hooked. I don't know what took me so long, it's like The Daily Show of radio shows.

Bits Of My Weekend

Open studios (pies were a huge hit and looks at that boy up there in front of his amazing piece! So proud), a rainy Saturday - the Morgan Library Museum (love), kinokuniya notebook splurge, pizza and friends. A sunny Sunday - PS1 (amazing shows up right now, do go!) packing for vacation, Where The Wild Things Are (I'm having mixed emotions about it! So lovely but maybe too sad) It was a busy weekend that went by too fast. There are still so many things to do before leaving tomorrow morning, eek!

Bits Of My Weekend

It was definitely a homebody weekend. I worked my butt off on finishing up the Ikea dressers (post about them coming later!) and painting the bathroom, organizing the studio/office (we haven't decided what to refer to it as yet) and other little projects on Saturday. I didn't leave the apartment much, except to get up criminally early Saturday morning to go shoot Billy's new work at his studio in Flushing, and then for Indian food and beers with his classmates later after they finished up their crits. Sunday was the first chunk of hours I got to see Billy at home with nothing to do, so we stayed in our pajamas forever, eating toast in bed and laying in each others arms. It's funny how putting together Bits of My Weekend on Sunday nights makes me reflect on how much or how little I accomplished.

Bits Of My Weekend

A lovely birthday weekend with lots of walks in the perfect weather, Wendy in a particularly wonderful mood, those previously mentioned adult beverages at Dutch Kills (the best cocktail I've ever had is there), and then a resulting hangover Sunday that kept me at home making jewelry all day. Billy got me an amazing collection of new and vintage dishes and glasses from Fishs Eddy (some shown in the first few photos) and I made sure to put them to use with lots of tea and bacon bacon bacon. Some wonderful friends came out and made me feel very loved, despite the MTA bringing on the worst weekend of train service changes you could imagine. A true sign of friendship:)

And thank you thank you thank you for all the birthday wishes! I wish I could share the cupcakes my friend Emily made me with all of you. They're vanilla with a raspberry filling, and lemon cream cheese frosting. Just pretend you're eating them right now, ok? Trust me, you love them.

A weekend to organize more (things are coming together in the apartment, as you can see!), explore the neighborhood, the Art Book Fair (overwhelming! So. Many. Books), Deitch Projects LIC down the street from us (you must go if you get the chance! Look at that view! Amazing show up right now), a lovely union of two friends, waaay too much free-flowing wine at said union, an Ikea hack project, The September Issue and burgers with Jenny, and a night of bonding with my studio. A nice weekend that flew by much too fast.

Bits Of My Weekend

Wendy. Uhaul. Wendy! Uhaul! Moving! Moving! Moving! Wendy!

That's how I feel about this Bits Of My Weekend. My camera was the last thing on my mind this weekend, but next weekend, I promise glorious Bits Of My New Totally Awesome Did I Mention It Is Oh So Awesome Apartment. Moving went pretty smoothly, besides Uhaul hell (1.5 hour wait in line, anyone?) and losing out on an extra person with muscles to help us, so I had to fill in for muscles, and if you've met me in person you can join in on a hearty laugh with me, right about...now.

But we're here, and besides some seriously sore muscles, I'm gloriously happy with the new place. I unpacked half the place already because I'm completely insane and apparently just want to drag myself to work, half alive! I think I eye a box somewhere that is screaming for me to open it... It's like Christmas!

Bits Of My Weekend

I knew that this day would come where Bits Of My Weekend would roll around and I'd have barely anything to show for it. Why? Because that first photo accurately represents what 75% of my weekend was spent doing: painting. It ended up being SO much more work than we'd anticipated, and we're not even finished. I also had the pleasure of having to get all the necklaces ready to go and do a little photo shoot, which I'm usually excited for, but this was just plain bad timing. But you know what? I have never felt so accomplished as this weekend. I kicked some serious ass, and I slept every night like a rock. I also slipped in one night of fun for Lauren's unmentionable age birthday, a night of getting dolled up and overindulging in Italian food. Sunday I painted the apartment alone and I didn't want to leave to go back to the old place. The breeze and the light is so wonderful in the new place, I seriously am ecstatic to move in. And you are probably ecstatic to not hear me talk about it anymore! :)

Bits Of My Weekend

Saturday was one of those days where absolutely nothing went right. We got up early to go sign our lease (which was postponed til then last minute) and decided that because we were in Queens, we'd go to Billy's school so he could show me the new studio he moved into. Which was a wonderful idea except that the MTA likes to screw over all weekend plans and trains were so effed that it took us half of a day to get somewhere and back that would have taken 15 minutes in a car due to train work. It's days like that were I pull my hair out and hate New York. I feel really bad for anyone visiting New York on days like that because even I was so, so confused as to how to get to our destination and I consider knowing where all the trains go as one of my superpowers. But Sunday made everything better because the rain stopped, the sun shone bright, and I didn't set foot in the subway one time. I slept in and spend the entire day hand making a book for a friend's wedding guestbook and eating too many brownies. I'm pretty sad that it's Monday because I wish I could do Saturday all over again, but I'll just think about how we're going to start moving stuff into the new apartment Wednesday and get super excited...

Bits Of My Weekend

My four-day weekend was rudely party crashed by a dreaded sickness that I knew was coming on Thursday night, and didn't let me have too much fun. Of course in between being half-dead we had apartments to look at, so my days revolved around running around in the mornings and then coming back home and crawling into bed to watch bad movies and make necklaces (I'm bad at napping, all the time, even if I'm sick.) By Monday I was determined to get out of the apartment and feel better, so by the late afternoon we headed to a bbq at our friend's new apartment and I even managed to drink an entire beer! Which must have helped me because I'm feel much better today. Though I can tell I will be entertaining my coworkers with lots of coughing today...

Bits Of My Weekend

This weekend was the first time in a long while that I had to edit some of my weekend photos out of here, and I'm still way beyond my normal 10-13 images. Which is good. It was all inspired by going on a photo hunt with my Ikoflex Saturday. I walked Billy to work in Tribeca, and then just wandered all the way home, weaving around the city taking pictures. I don't normally enjoy taking pictures while I'm alone, but I really wanted to finish the roll so I could walk straight to the film shop and drop it off to get developed (I'm scanning them as soon as I get to work!) Besides picture taking, there was so much painting, cleaning and boxing up. We also fit in a fun trip to PS1, my favorite place on earth. It was one of my favorite weekends in a while.

Bits Of My Weekend

Friday night our friend Elise came over and we were all set to cab it up to Union Square to see District 9 with our coke bottles spiked with coconut rum and skittles prepared, but we got there and it was sold out. So we people watched in Union Square until properly buzzed and then walked to the craziest bar where everyone was DECKED OUT rockabilly-style and there were couples in the back swing dancing plus a PHOTO BOOTH! I think I shrieked so loud at the sight of it the whole bar stared at me. Photo booths are as rare as can be in nyc, so I was excited! It's probably sacrilegious to rearrange a photo booth strip to selfishly fit your bits of my weekend format, but I had to share. In the first shot you can see my fabulously swollen mouth, which I'm still slightly dealing with. Saturday I regretted said rum and coke, but spent the rainy afternoon learning how to use my new camera, and then the rest of the night kicking ass on jewelry preparation. Sunday the rain decided to wave goodbye, so Billy and I hung out in the neighborhood until he went to work and then I went back to my jewelry sweatshop for the night, and now everything is finally ready for tonight. I think. I hope. I always forget something...

Bits Of My Weekend

My weekend was full of...well...cats, beads, cats, flea markets, cats, sweltering heat, and walking way too much in said sweltering heat. Mr. Arizona would correct my use of the word "sweltering" as it hasn't quite hit 100, but Ms. Pacific Northwest would call this unacceptable. And gross. I found a flea market with vintage jewelry and beads galore, and now I have all these beads without much of a plan. I made a few necklaces for fun that I might sell, but I haven't decided yet. Oh and um, did I mention I got through half of My So Called Life? It's more amazing than I ever remember it being. Oh how I wish there were other seasons.

Bits Of My Weekend

Friday night we decided to take a late night walk for miles around the city sober instead of going to a bar (was a really fun experience), Saturday I got up bright and early and continued that walk all day - running errands and then on a flea market tour in Chelsea with Lauren. We got drinks and then saw Harry Potter (endlessly entertaining). Then there was a late night roof party I could barely stay awake for, which resulted in sleeping in until...well..I don't know if I ever got up Sunday. Did absolutely nothing and didn't get dressed til 6pm to go have dinner at Walter Foods with some lovely blogger friends (I suppose I could just call them my friends now. ha.) Got stupendously lost after I got off the late late late train (so so so unlike me!), ate the best french dip I've ever had, drank a strong strong drink, stumbled back to the train correctly, came home and made (slightly ruined) chocolate mousse and passed out.

Today it's going to push 100 degrees and I am only glad to be going to work for that sweet, sweet air conditioning.

Bits Of My Weekend

This weekend I barely left the apartment, except for a run to SoHo with Billy to get his beard trimmed (my favorite errand ever to run.) Billy worked nights both days so I set an insane goal for myself to make 22 necklaces. I smiled at your remarks Friday on taking it easy this weekend because I said I had no grand plans, but I meant I had no grand plans because they were not exciting! I worked my ass off, in between testing out my new mixer (amazing) and cleaning the hell out of the apartment because I needed a break here and there. My hand is a CLAW now, but they're all done, and a heads up on when the shop update will be this week is coming later, along with with the results on that necklace display I made. So this weekend's pictures are all from me hanging out at home with my favorite lady Wendy.

This weekend was filled with many random storms that dumped rain like nobody's business, lots of wine, lots of food making, brunch at Caroline & Lisa's with lovely ladies, beer on Elise's roof, stamp stamp stamping (and realizing my shirt matched the cards I was stamping), and necklace making. I can't believe that A. It's Monday already and B. it's almost August! This summer is flying by.

Things you're missing out on if you've never done them before: feeding a goat. hiking while drinking a glass of wine. playing baseball with the teams being homemade slanket wearers vs non-homemade slanket wearers in the sunset (beer induced idea, natch). eating ice cream from stewart's. standing in a field in the pitch black, totally silent, watching the fireflies. burning trivial pursuit in the stove because it is the worst game on earth (ok, that was just our fantasy idea). turn your phone and computer off for 3 whole days (only cheated one time for 20 minutes).

Bits Of My Weekend

This weekend I finally got the sun I was asking for. Friday Billy worked overnight so I went to Brooklyn and had a date night with Lauren, who is quite a good date and talked me into dessert and gave me my tv fix while we made jewelry. Saturday was a trip to Governor's Island with Anneliis and we took lots of photos (that I can't show you yet!) for my jewelry. Saw some friends in town from Poland and watched the sun set from an amazing 20th floor apartment in Brooklyn. Sunday I had lots of boring sitting at my computer work to do, but we managed to go to take a stroll to Soho to get Billy's beard trimmed at his barbershop (best thing to watch ever) and fall asleep to Star Wars. Thank you, sunshine, for giving me two days of your splendor.

Foodtastic weekend: currywurst, berry crepes, homemade tortilla chips & mango guacamole were highlights. My first extremely successful self-bang cutting experience (3rd photo), a wine-filled evening at Elise's and playing with some masks she had (I know, they're creepy), and a visit to The Met. The roof right now is amazing (Roxy Paine installation), and we got lucky with a few hours of blue sky. I didn't even notice that I didn't take very many photos this weekend until now! But, I have a good excuse as it just rained and rained and only let up for a few hours here and there, so I just holed up inside when it did.

Bits Of My Weekend

A grey Saturday in Queens to visit Billy's studio gave way to a gorgeous, gorgeous Sunday filled with "let's walk somewhere in Manhattan that we've never been" which led us on the longest walk ever. I checked a million things off my to do list like a champ this weekend, and somehow managed to see a ton of movies. Three worth mentioning: The Hangover (1.5 thumbs up, lots of laughing til crying), Moon (amazing and also 1.5 thumbs up. Plus the director, Duncan Jones - aka David Bowie's son - surprised the audience by saying hello!) and Downfall (super depressing but a fascinating look at Hitler's last days).

Hope you all had a lovely weekend as well! I finished off a roll of film last night so I'm excited to go take it in this morning to get developed.

The end of my jewelry class (end result in the second photo), some galleries and chinatown ice cream factory with Anneliis, jewelry making until 2:30 am, and then all I can remember is beach beach BEACH because the sun and my slight sunburn has fried my brain! Oh and that swimsuit? Amazing. The best swimsuit I've ever owned. I didn't realize until last night that I didn't take hardly any photos this weekend! Oh well. I knew these Monday posts would eventually get hard!

Bits Of My Weekend

Jewelry making class (so much fun), spending over an hour in the jewelry supply store with Lauren and spending WAY to much money on supplies, Flight of the Concords mania (why did it take me this long to join the fanatics?), eating at the same Vietnamese restaurant twice in 24 hours, Manhattenhege seeking (couldn't get to the right street for a perfect picture though, but I like how the top photo turned out), Long Island City open studios where Jesse Eisenberg came into our friend's studio and hung out for a bit looking at his paintings (I just stood there frozen, not knowing what to say as I was so star struck, I LOVE him!).

This weekend I tried to be a little more selective in photo taking, after I nearly filled my entire hardrive up because of all the picture taking lately. I take so many photos that end up not being good enough to upload, and I'm a digital pack-rat, so I needed to put an end to that!

I can't believe it's June. Wow. Also, I'm so happy Andrea dropped by with a post yesterday! Love those pillows.

ps. If you want to know more about what's going on in my photos, you can read more about them (and sometimes see more that doesn't make the bits of my weekend cut) on my flickr page!

Bits Of My Weekend

Dwell sample sale (awesome pillow pictured), chinatown wandering, williamsburg drinking, DUMBO flea and then wandering, Brooklyn Bridge walk, ice cream rip-off, backyard scrabble, and Monday was getting shit done mania. Picture taking felt kind of forced this weekend, I hope to get my zing back next weekend!

Bits Of My Vacation: Part 2

Bits Of My Vacation: Part 1

It was such a wonderful, wonderful vacation. The weather gods were on our side, and apartment swapping with Micah and Shirley and having a car to borrow made the trip SO much less stressful! Their apartment was awesome, and as was their cat Lola, who wears a bow tie and doesn't hiss at you when you pet her too much. I was so happy to be able to see old friends, family, and make music with my brother again! Thanks for all the wonderful comments on the music post. I wish we lived closer so we could bring you more soon! I also got some lovely baby time in with Audrey, and remembered what a good latte tastes like. I loved Seattle more than I have in many, many years, and that felt a little bittersweet. I felt suffocated by people today at the grocery store, but I'm sure that in a day or two I'll slip right back into the wonderful chaos:)

Part two coming later! I didn't want to overload this post.

Bits Of My Weekend

The Brooklyn Botanical Garden, the craft fair, a dinner party where I drank too much wine, a crazy hangover Sunday from said wine, laying in the park watching the dogs and the babies, and intense Spring cleaning in preparation for our apartment swapping this week. A pretty quiet, lovely weekend. I took a few photos for organized collection, after finding things while cleaning.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend too!

Bits Of My Weekend

I've had so many lovely, sunny weekends lately that a meh one was past due.
Friday was super fun taking slide show photos at my friend Anneliis's place (see/read about the fun here). Then there was some allergy mania going on in our house saturday, then brooklyn fun sunday along with more rain than my little Seattle heart could even handle. I filled this weekend with more general lazyness than I should have.

Bits Of My Weekend

80-90 degrees, some sun on my skin, a barbecue, the flea market, gallery hopping, currywurst (I ate way too much meat this weekend now that I think of it), and one damn hot apartment (I refuse to put the a/c in for just four days of 80 something. Sleep was interesting last night). I more than survived the heat (kind of loved it since it's not here to stay). New York was so alive this weekend.

Also, I splurged on a Sabina bag (from urban) but I kind of hate it. It's too big. I never thought I'd say that. Sending it back, hope they take back a purse I took out for a spin...

Bits Of My Weekend

Saturday was the most glorious, hottest day of the year - 76 and not a cloud in the sky. My allergies were unbearable but I doped myself up on zyrtec and stumbled my way through the weekend - so I didn't pull my camera out as much. Sunday was supposed to rain but the weather god smiled on us and brought another nice day. We ripped the plastic winter insulation off our bedroom window and slept with the breeze on our heads. I wish the summer would never get hotter than that, then I'd be yearning for summer right now.

art above (6th photo) is by Ishmael Randall Weeks at Eleven Rivington. Amazing show if you get a chance to see it

Bits Of My Weekend

This weekend I tried two new things: Porchetta, and octopus takoyaki. Thumbs up to both of them. This was all part of eating myself silly as we decided to not eat big meals (with the exception of the amazing dinner I made tonight, pictured above) and taste our way around Manhattan. I highly recommend this.
Other highlights included the sign of spring in all the trees, Bigger Stronger Faster (SO good), reading all of your amazing comments* and discovering your blogs, and did I mention eating?

*I'm told I look slightly weird in that photo by those close to me and I realized it's because I was struggling to keep Wendy in my arms before the automatic timer went off. Therefore, weird face. Ha!

Bits Of My Weekend

Beer and burgers Friday, a rainy Saturday was for making jewelry, a friend took us to Indian food where I had the BEST Indian food I've ever consumed in my life (Banjara on 1st ave- ate lamb for the first time! I know, I'm sheltered), Sunday was the most perfect weather EVER and we walked 9 miles to un-picture worthy parts of Manhattan, then came home and basked in the sunlight, I made berry buckle and we ate it with ice cream and watched South Park til we fell asleep (since there was no new episode of The Office- boo). One of the best weekends in a long time.

I hope yours was wonderful, as well!

Bits Of My Weekend

Open studios, miles and miles of walking, Cambodian sandwiches at num pang finally (too hungry to remember to photograph it), rain rain rain and more rain - which led to lots of Star Wars and finally seeing Wall-E. It's warming up and the neighborhood is getting louder at night.

Bits Of My Weekend

BSG final (so good), BBQ at Whiskey Sunday, a walk that led me to more cats and lots of lonely chairs, Watchmen (also SO good), the most amazing ice cream ever invented, an early anniversary present from the boy I love, Coraline in 3D (wasn't into it), and lots of Brooklyn wandering with Lauren (who has apparently become my Sunday partner in crime lately). I don't feel as excited about this weekend's shots but the weekend itself was quite lovely.

Bits Of My Weekend

A lot of art, a lot of walking (my feet are sooo sore), a lot of reading, a lot of amazing weather. Oh, and the time change has made me le tired this grey morning. Oh hello, coffee...

Also, I finally wore red tights.

Bits Of My Weekend

My Canon is off getting fixed, so I kicked my ass in gear to finish a roll of film in my film camera to have for this post instead. This should really be titled "bits of my weekends the last couple months". Flickr kind of ruins the subtle colors of these photos and just makes them kind of redish looking, but oh wells.

and then I found some old lomo scans on a cd I never got to from 3 years ago!

This weekend I had a (thankfully brief) cold, but I met some amazing bloggers for brunch, (finally Joanna, in the flesh!) and put a serious dent in a new redesign of my portfolio site. I'm not looking for a new job or anything, I just think it's something I shouldn't neglect so much! I want to take one more challenges in 2009, some people I've met lately have inspired me to not be so damn lazy!

Bits of my weekend

Saturday was full of adventure, and scoring some amazing boots at Buffalo Exchange, but yesterday I was in bed all day sick so this didn't turn out as well as I wanted it to this time! Also my camera is having a sudden major disastrous problem that I'm hoping is a faulty memory card, otherwise I have to send it to Canon to fix. wah wah. It made shooting spontaneous things impossible.

Bits Of My Weekend

A three-day weekend comes to an end, and I am A. in love with my new camera, and B. full of lots of good food and friends.

ps. I'm so glad to not be the only nerd in the blogger world - BSG Friday? Oh my god. In the words of Clemintine "John f'in Hodgman!"

pps. Bits Of My Weekend is going to be a weekly Monday thing (if I keep my act together, ha)

EDIT: For those of you who have asked, I ended up getting the Canon Rebel XS. So far I LOVE it.

Bits of my weekend

I had such a wonderful weekend that I'm having a hard time being a very happy, productive person today because I'm going through good weekend withdrawls. Nearly 60 degrees, sunny, saw good friends and good art, had a nice balance of alone time and boyfriend time - I am so excited for the winter to be over! Aren't you?
